Take An Outfit From Summer To Fall

I know it’s still summer but usually about this time of the year, I start transitioning some of my outfits to a more fall look. There’s nothing fancy about this outfit but it’s something I wear when I’m running errands. Here’s how I take an outfit from summer to fall.

Take An Outfit From Summer To Fall I’ve had this navy blue top from Old Navy for several years and you probably have something like it in your closet. As fall nears, instead of wearing it with white pants, I like to wear these green pants I recently purchased from The Limited.

Take An Outfit From Summer To Fall I obviously have no problem carrying a big handbag! I usually have my ipad in my purse so it’s nice to have something this size.

When do you start transitioning your outfits to fall?

Beauty For the Heart~~My heart is so heavy this morning for the family that lost their journalist son to a beheading by ISIS. Can you even imagine if that were your child?? Today would you join me in praying for this family and all those that are suffering in Iraq.

Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. I dwell with you as a foreigner, a stranger, as all my ancestors were. Psalm 39:12

Here are the 2014 Fall Color Trends. Radiant Orchid is of course the color of the year so you’ll still see it around this fall.

Beauty For the Heart~~

What if we started with grace instead of judgment?

What if we looked for the hurt behind the action instead of focusing on our own reaction?

What if we taught our kids to offer grace rather than a knee-jerk reaction?

What if we really listened to each other?

What if we looked beyond the “I’m fine” to the hurting heart of the person beneath?

What if we spent more time looking for ways to help than focusing on how another person made us feel?

What if we offered forgiveness first?

What if we chose to love the unloveable?

What if we simply chose to follow God’s command to “love one another as I have loved you”?

What if we set such a great example of how to love others that our kids followed in our footsteps?

What if doing these things began to change the world? -Source

Building Your Fall Wardrobe {Jeans}

**This post is from last fall but it’s a good reminder as you start looking at your fall wardrobe. Make sure you have a great pair of jeans!

31 Days of Fall Fashion & Beauty Tips
Hi there! If you’re joining me for the first time, you can catch up with all my 31 Days of Fall Fashion & Beauty Tips here. We’re on Day 11 and we’re Building Your Fall Wardrobe. Today it’s all about a great fitting pair of jeans!

Building Your Fall Wardrobe {little black dress}

We all need a pair of great fitting jeans. I recommend having jeans you can wear with high heels and another pair to wear with flats.

Also, make sure they are flattering for your body type. If you find a pair you like that fits you well, you can buy them in two lengths to wear with flats and heels.

You can also have different styles, boot cut, skinny, straight leg or trousers. It’s important to find the style you like and you feel your best in.

Here’s how to find the right pair of  jeans for you:

  • Focus on the fit.
  • Look for dark wash denim-darker jeans are more slimming.
  • Avoid mommy jeans-mommy jeans are high-waisted, light-washed, with tapered-legs.
  • Don’t wear your daughter’s jeans either!  Clinton Kelly from TLC’s What Not to Wear says, “Anytime you wear something that’s meant for a teen or tween, it says that you don’t know who you are and you’re trying to hold onto your youth. The opposite is actually true: Wearing jeans for younger girls makes you look older. Keep in mind you don’t have to wear the trendiest jean. Find a style you like that’s modern, sleek, and sophisticated. It’s your time to be you!”

Some of my favorite brands of jeans are INC, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Banana Republic.

Do you have a great pair jeans? What’s your favorite brand of jeans?

Friday Fashion-Cypress Color

One of the things I thought we’d talk about next week is the Fall 2014 Pantone colors. If you’re picking up some fall accessories or fall fashion, it’s good to know what colors will be popular this fall and the coordinating colors that look good with them.

Cypress is going to be popular for the fall/winter season. Some of the colors cypress can be paired with are coral, white, off white, yellow, and navy.

I recently purchased these pants at The Limited. They’re a little bit lighter than Cypress but they’re definitely close.

Friday Fashion-Cypress Color As the weather gets cooler, I can pair these pants with boots and a sweater.

Take A Dress From Summer To Fall

Oh my! Thank you all so much for the sweet birthday messages yesterday. You made turning 48 a little easier! :-) I had a wonderful day!

One of the dresses I’ve loved wearing this summer is my chambray dress but with fall right around the corner, I thought I would show you how to take a dress from summer to fall.

Summer is the perfect time for a sleeveless chambray dress. Paired with a cute sandal and you’re ready to go.

I usually get cold when I’m inside in the air condition so I always have a denim jacket handy. I get emails asking whether you can wear denim on denim and the answer is YES!

When September rolls around the temperatures are still warm, but I like to transition to a fall look. It’s easy to do by adding a scarf and a pair of ankle boots.

One of the trends for fall is definitely the ankle boot. Have you tried styling the ankle boot?

Beauty For the Heart~~Yesterday as I kept getting Happy Birthday wishes, I kept thinking of what my Mom always said, “my cup runneth over.”  But I missed hearing my Mom’s voice yesterday. I wanted a call from my Mom. The pain of losing her will never go away but the memories I have with her are so so sweet.

In honor of Mom, I’ll share this poem that I’ve shared before:

I’ve never made a fortune
and it’s probably too late now.
But I don’t worry about that much,
I’m happy anyhow.

And as I go along life’s way,
I’m reaping better than I sowed.
I’m drinking from my saucer,
‘Cause my cup has overflowed.

I haven’t got a lot of riches,
and sometimes the going’s tough.
But I’ve got loved ones around me,
and that makes me rich enough.

I thank God for his blessings,
and the mercies He’s bestowed.
I’m drinking from my saucer,
’cause my cup has overflowed.

I remember times when things went wrong,
My faith wore somewhat thin.
But all at once the dark clouds broke,
and the sun peeped through again.

So God, help me not to gripe about
the tough rows that I’ve hoed.
I’m drinking from my saucer,
‘Cause my cup has overflowed.

If God gives me strength and courage,
when the way grows steep and rough.
I’ll not ask for other blessings,
I’m already blessed enough.

And may I never be too busy,
to help others bear their loads.
Then I’ll keep drinking from my saucer,
‘Cause my cup has overflowed. -Author unknown

Have a blessed day!

It’s My Birthday And I’ll Cry If I Want To

Well, it is my birthday but I’m not going to cry! I’m thankful for another year of life! My Mom always said not to fret over getting older but to remember, life is a gift, use it wisely.

We celebrated my birthday on Friday night and this sweet fella helped me blow out the candles.

birthday

So….I did get some birthday money. Yay! And I’m going to buy a new pair of riding boots. My old ones are worn out! I know what you’re thinking, Why didn’t I buy a pair at the end of the winter season?? Good question. I don’t have a good answer. :-)

I’d like a cognac color and I don’t want to spend over $200 so Frye boots are out. I just can’t justify $400+ for a pair of boots.

Here are some cute ones I found online and I thought if you all had any that you had bought and liked you could share them with me.

Have you found any riding boots that you like, where did you get them?

Beauty For the Heart~~Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble. Proverbs 21:23  I don’t know about you all, but I’ve learned this one the hard way.

I’m so thankful I didn’t grow up with social media. My heart aches when I see people use social media in a negative way. Let’s remember to honor God with our words!

Have a blessed day!
