What To Wear Black Friday Shopping!

Welcome to Day 2 of our 12 Days of Holiday Outfits. Today is What To Wear Black Friday Shopping! I’m partnering with Kristin from BonBon Rose Girls and Jo-Lynne from Jo-Lynne Shane to bring you 12 days of posts about what to wear for EVERY event this holiday season.

If you’re crazy enough to fight the crowd then by all means make sure your outfit is comfortable!

What To Wear Black Friday Shopping!

Here are my tips for Black Friday shopping. Don’t wear a lot of jewelry. When you’re running to catch those deals, you don’t want a bracelet to snag on something and slow you down. No necklaces either, it could fly up and hit you in the mouth. Not good! :-)

What To Wear Black Friday Shopping!

Eat a high protein breakfast and of course make sure you have plenty of coffee to keep your energy up. Stay away from sugar, you don’t want a sudden drop in energy. This is serious business!!

What To Wear Black Friday Shopping!

Use your shopping bags to hit anyone that gets in your way. Just make sure no one sees you hitting, you could end up in jail. No fun calling the family and telling them they need to pick you up and pay bail. Bail money would cut into your christmas money. Ha!

What To Wear Black Friday Shopping!

No time to do your hair, throw on a festive red hat!! Wear comfortable shoes. I ran around the house a couple of times to test my boots out. I think I’m good.

Okay, I’m having way too much fun with this post. Some of my sweetest christmas memories with my Mom were the two of us getting up early and going Black Friday shopping.

We never bought that much but we loved the beginning of the christmas season. Everyone would be wishing each other “Merry Christmas.”  I miss those days!

What about you, are you going Black Friday shopping? Do you make it a fun family adventure?

Don’t miss my first post of the 12 Days of Holiday Outfits series, What to Wear To Thanksgiving, where you can enter to win a $250 Gift Card to Rack Room Shoes!

Make sure to visit Jo-Lynne and Kristin to see what they’re wearing for Black Friday Shopping!

Beauty For the Heart~~Who can add to Christmas? The perfect motive is that God so loved the world. The perfect gift is that He gave His only Son. The only requirement is to believe in Him. The reward of faith is that you shall have everlasting life. ~Corrie Ten Boom

Casual Fashion For Women Over 40

Today I’m sharing some casual fashion for women over 40. My casual fashion consists of a plaid shirt and booties which I seem to have a thing for these days.

I’ve worn this Old Navy shirt with a red vest but decided to wear it alone today.

I love to add  bracelets to my outfit. The gold one is from Stella & Dot and I wear it all the time.

I’ve talked about my trench coat before but it’s a staple piece for me. I love to wear it this time of the year when the weather is chilly. A trench coat adds a little class to a basic outfit.

Please tell me I’m not alone in my love for plaid shirts and booties??

Beauty For the Heart~~I’m typing this post from a hospital room. My father-in-law has pneumonia and my husband and I are sitting with him. He’s 88 years old and at that age, pneumonia can be a little dangerous.

Hopefully he’ll get to go home soon. Hospitals are no fun!

As I sit here and listen to all that’s going on outside his room, I hear a lot of different conversations. Some are sweet, some are laced with obscenities, some are from people who are sick and need help.

It reminds me how each of us are different…..our backgrounds, our lifestyles, even our genetics.

But God in his perfect plan, created each of us. He loves us and he wants us to know Him. It’s a beautiful thing!

“The God who made the world and everything in it, this Master of sky and land, doesn’t live in custom-made shrines or need the human race to run errands for him, as if he couldn’t take care of himself. He makes the creatures; the creatures don’t make him. Starting from scratch, he made the entire human race and made the earth hospitable, with plenty of time and space for living so we could seek after God, and not just grope around in the dark but actually find him. He doesn’t play hide-and-seek with us. He’s not remote; he’s near. We live and move in him, can’t get away from him! Acts 17:24-28 (MSG)

Have a blessed day!

31 Days of Fall Fashion (Day 7)

Good morning! Today is Day 7 of my 31 Days of Fall Fashion.

31 Days of Fall Fashion is coming soon!
I’m cheating a little and I hope you’ll give me some grace. We’re in the midst of  dealing with the loss of our nephew and today is the funeral.

Even in the midst of this tragedy, I see God clearly working and I’m clinging to these words from my Mom, “I don’t always understand God, but I trust Him.”

Okay, there’s not a good way to transition from that to fall fashion but here’s some fall fashion from two of my friends who have amazing style.

Jo-Lynne blogs at Musings of a Housewife and she shared this adorable dress on her blog and styled it with these fabulous pumps from Payless ShoeSource.  Yep! You read that right, Payless ShoeSource. As soon as I get a chance, I’m heading to Payless to pick these up.

31 Days of Fall Fashion (Day 7)

Alison blogs at Get Your Pretty On and she shared this post on 7 Ways to Wear Leggings. I love the way she styled them here with this gorgeous blue tunic.

31 Days of Fall Fashion (Day 7)

Both of these women are over 40 (I know they don’t look like it) and have wonderful blogs. I love their style and their heart!

How many of you wear leggings? I’m going to try and style some soon!

Beauty For the Heart~~“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:3-14

Have a blessed day!

31 Days Of Fall Fashion-Vest & Boots

***If you are seeing my website but have been getting a CNN ad, please know that I did not put that on my blog. Somehow it’s gotten on my blog and I’m trying to get it removed ASAP. I’m so sorry and bear with me. Thank you so much!

Well happy fall and welcome to day 4 of my 31 days of fall fashion. The weather is crisp and cool here in Kentucky so it’s time to pull out the boots.

I also wanted to wear my red vest and plaid shirt and today is the perfect day. I think it’s a good day for a cup of pumpkin spice latte too. Yum!

Day 3 of 31 Days of Fall Fashion-Neutrals

Happy Friday!! It’s Day 3 of 31 Days of Fall Fashion. One of the emails I get a lot is for work wear outfits so today I’m sharing a neutral outfit for work.

You don’t have to wear high heels with this outfit. You could wear flats or even boots. I just choice my classic black pump.

Day 3 of 31 Days of Fall Fashion-Neutrals

It might not be cold enough for you to wear a scarf yet so you could always add a statement necklace with this sweater.

Day 3 of 31 Days of Fall Fashion-Neutrals

I love a classic look and it doesn’t get more classic than a leopard print sweater .

Beauty For the Heart~~“You do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away” James 4:14

Such a good reminder to live life to the fullest. It’s a gift!

Welcome to 31 Days of Fall Fashion!

It’s October 1st and that means it’s 31 Days of Fall Fashion!! Some of you might be new around here, so let me be the first to say, Welcome!

Welcome to 31 Days of Fall Fashion!
I was recently asked about the handbags I carry and I said I usually stick to one or two handbags a season. Well, I found this handbag at Marshall’s and let me just say it was love at first sight! (Similar one here.)

Welcome to 31 Days of Fall Fashion!

This handbag has three things going for it.

  • Royal Blue is a popular color this fall.
  • It’s a satchel, which is a popular style for fall.
  • Gold chains on handbags are also popular.

As you can see, I couldn’t pass it up!

I learned something new today, don’t wear black suede boots in gravel, the dust gets all over them. Who knew?

Welcome to 31 Days of Fall Fashion!

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know I love mixing patterns. When I saw this black plaid shirt at Old Navy, I knew I could wear it with this polka dot sweater.

Of course, polka dots and plaid call for pearls. So I popped a pearl bracelet on. (Is that just a southern thing?)

Have you been mixing any patterns lately?

Beauty for the Heart~~I’m learning more and more that storms in this life can come quickly. Scripture says, “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:17-18

Remember, when things are out of our control, they are never out of God’s control, no matter how impossible the situation.

Have a blessed day!
