What I Wore-Fashion for Women Over 40

Happy Hump Day! I’m sharing some fashion for women over 40 and my new obsession with Stella & Dot.

I blame my obsession on Shaeffer from Pinterest Told Me To. You’ve been to her blog, right? I can hardly keep up with all of her cute outfits!

I saw this picture of her neutral blazer and the gold necklace. At that moment, I felt like angels surrounded me singing the Hallelujah Chorus!

Why? Because that necklace was exactly what I had been looking for! It was pretty and unique and it can be worn with half of my wardrobe.

Soooooo, I copied her necklace. I guess I could call it, Shaeffer Told Me To. :-)   Anyway, I’m giddy over it, it doesn’t take much does it?

I recently received this crew neck layered sweater from Stitch Fix and the gold necklace was just what it needed.

Do you remember a few weeks ago, I hosted a Matilda Jane party? This is the top and tank top I ordered. I love it!

So a couple of random things I’ll share with you~~

  • I am waaay overdo for a cut and color. I will be getting it done asap.
  • I took these pictures after I had my eyes dilated at my eye appointment. I couldn’t see well but I managed to get some pictures, blurry eyed and all.
  • I did find out my eyes are worse than they were last year. Woo hoo! I’m trying to wear contacts AGAIN, we’ll see!

Have you ever had your eyes dilated? It’s a weird feeling isn’t it?

Easter Dresses For Women Over 40

With Easter being two weeks away, I thought I’d share some Easter dresses for women over 40. These would also be great for graduations and weddings.

A couple of reminders for women over 40~~don’t wear matchy, matchy, such as a matching skirt and jacket. Also, don’t try to match your shoes and your handbag.

To make you look more young and hip, add trendy jewelry. For instance with dress #4, I would add a coral bracelet or chandelier earrings with coral in them. Wear wedge heels or an open toe platform shoe (see picture 2). Small things can make a huge difference.

If you’re concerned about the length of your dress, you can buy slip extenders to add length. This is a DIY slip extender and you can find it here. I also found some on Etsy that are already made.

Here are some dresses that I liked:

1. Gemma Wrap Dress//2. Studio M Three-Quarter-Sleeve Striped Knit Dress//3. Evan Picone Cap-Sleeve Faux-Wrap Dress//4. MSK Short-Sleeve Ruched Surplice Dress – Plus//5. Studio 1® 3/4-Sleeve Squareneck Print Dress//6. Liz Claiborne Faux-Wrap Dress//7. Black Label by Evan-Picone Belted Eyelet Lace Fit-and-Flare Dress//8. Chaps Colorblock Sheath Dress//9. Apt. 9® Mixed-Media Sheath Dress – Women’s Plus

A good rule of thumb for dress or skirt length that’s always in style is letting the dress or skirt hit the spot on the back of your knee that curves in slightly. From the front it’s just above the knee. If you like a bit more length, have your skirts hit the middle of the knee.

Do you usually dress up on Easter sunday? Or do you like to keep it casual?

Beauty For the Heart~~One of the things my family would tell you about me, is I have a tendency to be a control freak. Okay, they would say I AM a control freak. I’m the oldest sibling. I’m the planner in the family, if we’re doing something as a family, they call me to find out when, where, etc.

My sister has even said when she plans her kid’s birthdays, she calls me first to find out the plan (okay she’s going overboard with that comment, but you get the point).

Over the last several years, God has been teaching me (and they’ve been hard lessons to learn) that I’m not in control. I had no control over losing my Mom to cancer. I had no control when it came to my daughter’s marriage ending in divorce.

I’m not in control but I’m so thankful I know the one that is in control. I’m learning that I have to trust God with my family. I would rather entrust my family to God than anyone else in the world.

Have you struggled with control issues?? Are you learning to let go and let God?

Have a blessed day!

What I Wore-Fashion For Women Over 40

Good morning from San Francisco! Traci and I made it safely and we’re excited about the next few days.

Because of my crazy week, I only snapped one picture. But I thought I would do a What I Wore during the month of March post. (This is the last Wednesday in March, can you believe it?)

So here’s some Fashion For Women Over 40:

It was cold again on Sunday so I pulled out my tights and boots. I recently purchased this dress from Zulilly.

Have you tried Zulilly? Zulilly offers daily deals of new boutique items—all at an average of 50% off. Membership is free, and you can sign up here.

Well the month of March was cold in Kentucky. Maybe April will be warmer, I’d love to start wearing sandals!

What do you love most about spring?

Beauty for the Heart~~When I think of spring, I also think about spring cleaning around my house. Windows need to be washed, closets need to be re-organized and so on.

But what about a spiritual spring cleaning? With the change of a season, it’s a good time to evaluate our heart. Are we holding any grudges? Are we bitter, or hurt?

Psalm 51:10 says, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Let’s spring clean our hearts too!

Have a blessed day!

What I Wore-Fashion For Women Over 40

Welcome! I’m so glad you’ve stopped by! This is the day I share what I wore but some weeks I feel I need to apologize.

I spent the weekend with our youth group and didn’t have time to take pictures. I’m also trying to get ready for my trip to San Francisco. Crazy!

I also know many of you work at jobs where you can’t wear jeans so I’m sorry I’m in jeans again this week. I promise I’m going to do better! :-)

I love to try and mix patterns so I wore a polka dot blouse with a floral scarf.

Our weather has been cool so a coat is still a must. I recently received this jacket in my Stitch Fix box and I love it. It’s perfect for this time of the year.

Beauty For the Heart~~These are some verses from my bible study this week.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”  Mark 10:27

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
