My Stitch Fix Vacation

Well, I’m finally posting about my Stitch Fix vacation. Can I just say, that this was a dream come true for me! (This is a picture overload post, I hope you’ll understand.)

My Stitch Fix Vacation

I started with Stitch Fix when they were in the beginning stages so I feel like they’re family. I’ve been talking to this sweet lady by phone, email and skype and I finally got to meet her in person.

My Stitch Fix Vacation

Cotille does a million things but she specifically works with the bloggers. I can’t tell you how happy I was to meet her!

I also got to spend time with my sister (love her so much!).

My Stitch Fix Vacation

And then I got to meet Cheryl, most of you will know her as the Tidy Mom, and her daughter Allison. Oh my goodness Traci and I fell in love with these two! We seriously wanted to take Allison home with us. If I could have packed her in my suitcase I would have!

My Stitch Fix Vacation

I really did love San Francisco!

My Stitch Fix Vacation
This picture pretty much sums up how much fun I had!

The first day we spent at the Stitch Fix office. We looked at the spring clothes.

We styled each other. This is me showing the clothes I picked out for Traci.

My Stitch Fix Vacation

We looked at how they did those awesome style cards you receive in each box.

My Stitch Fix Vacation

We also got to look at all the new jewelry that will be in your Stitch Fix boxes.

My Stitch Fix Vacation

So much pretty jewelry!

I love the Lauren Hope bracelet that I received in my Stitch Fix box a few months ago.

My Stitch Fix Vacation

We had a photographer, Michael Bisig, who took all these pictures and followed us around the whole time we were there. We laughed about how we had paparazzi and it was sooo annoying. :-)

Here’s Allison with that sweet smile on her face. She was such a fun seventeen year old!

Trying to act cool, but we’re not!

The second day we spent at the warehouse. This is where the boxes get packed. They are meticulous about their job!!

This is the infamous robot box that they’ve made and have at the warehouse.

Here they’re showing us pictures of the beginning days, and where they are now.

My Stitch Fix Vacation
I can’t remember what I was doing here, but I’m sure it was important!

My Stitch Fix Vacation

We were each able to pack a Stitch Fix box. Can I just say it’s stressful, they have a system and it needs to look good.

My Stitch Fix Vacation

I was SLOW! I’m still working on that same top. I would never be hired to work in the warehouse. We figured that out pretty quickly!

My Stitch Fix Vacation

The warehouse if full of handbags. Swoon!

My Stitch Fix Vacation

And clothes! I wanted one of everything!

My Stitch Fix Vacation

I hope you don’t mind me sharing so many pictures but it was truly a wonderful trip! Thank you to Stitch Fix for asking me to come and see the whole Stitch Fix process. It really is an amazing company and I’m honored to be a small part of it.

What To Wear On A Plane Trip-Traveling In Style

A few weeks ago, I received this email. “Do you have any suggestions on what to wear on the plane especially when on vacation going from a cold climate to a hot one? I would like to look nice but need to be comfortable too.”

What To Wear On A Plane Trip-Traveling In Style

As you probably know, my sister and I are headed to San Francisco tomorrow so I thought a post on What To Wear On a Plane Trip might be appropriate.

I’m sure some of you are going to be traveling this year too! Whether you’re going from a cold climate to a warm one or a warm climate to a cold one, layering is the way to go. Also, being comfortable is a must.

Did you know that years ago people actually dressed up when riding a plane? Men wore suits and women wore dresses. Of course that was way before 9/11.

Here are some things NOT TO WEAR on a plane trip:

  • High heels. You never know if you’re going to have to run to catch another flight.
  • Pajama pants. We can do better than this, right?
  • Lots of jewelry. We don’t want to hold up the line, place jewelry in your carry-on and put it back on when you reach your destination.

Here are some things TO WEAR on a plane trip:

  • Layers. Wear a tank top with a light sweater, or a jacket with pockets, or a cardigan. If you need to, wear a coat too.
  • Ballet flats. They’re cute and comfortable and perfect if you have to remove your shoes to be scanned. (I’m putting socks in my carry on bag in case my feet get cold on the plane.)
  • Comfortable clothes. You can be comfortable and still dress cute when traveling. Wear leggings, jeans with some spandex or a long maxi skirt.

I put together a couple of outfits that would work great on a plane ride.

This outfit is from JCPenney and the ballet flats are from Gap.

This outfit is Matilda Jane. (Remember that Matilda Jane party I had the other day?)

This is a classic look and are basic pieces we already have in our wardrobe.

Do you have any last minute suggestions on what to wear on a plane trip? I would love to hear any of your great ideas!

I’ll be sharing pictures from San Francisco on Instagram if you would like to follow along. You can follow me here.

Stitch Fix and San Francisco

I thought I would share some of the clothes I’ve kept from Stitch Fix lately. I also wanted to tell you that I’m heading to San Francisco to visit Stitch Fix in a few weeks.

I was introduced to Stitch Fix at a blogging conference a couple of years ago. I thought it was the greatest idea but I had no idea that I would ever get to travel to San Francisco because I shared it on my blog. I can’t believe it!!

Stitch Fix and San Francisco

Some of you might remember I was invited to go last fall but because of some of our family struggles, I decided to pass. I didn’t think they would invite me back, but they did! And even better they asked my sister, Traci, to come too.

So look out California, here we come! If you want to follow along, you can follow me on Instagram. We leave on March 25th. Yikes, I have no idea what I’m going to wear!

Now for some of the cute clothes I’ve kept. Most of them are for spring so I’m not ready to wear them yet.

Collared shirts are showing up everywhere this spring and this one will be perfect for a cool day.

Stitch Fix and San Francisco

I love dresses and especially colorful ones. Can’t wait to wear this!

Stitch Fix and San Francisco

This is going to be a great dress to wear to church this summer.

Stitch Fix and San Francisco

Both of these pieces are from Stitch Fix. The sleeveless blouse I got last summer but I recently kept these cropped cargo pants from Sanctuary. Perfect summer outfit.

Stitch Fix and San Francisco

You can never go wrong with jewelry and I’ve already worn this bracelet a bunch!

Stitch Fix and San Francisco

I love that I have some new clothes to wear as soon as the weather warms up. I am more than ready for warm weather!

Have you purchased anything lately to wear when the weather warms up? I’ve found several cute things at Target.

8 Ways to Hide That Muffin Top

Today we’re going to talk about the dreaded muffin top! The changes in our waistline seem to be a huge concern for women as they age. Thankfully, there are some easy ways to camouflage this area. (Actually women of all ages who struggle with added weight in this area can use this!)

8 Ways to Hide That Muffin Top

To be honest, I weigh about the same thing that I’ve always weighed but I have noticed a difference in my waistline. Clothes that once looked good on me, look “different” on me now. So here are 8 Ways to Hide (or help) That Muffin Top.

1. Exercise~Okay, I can’t talk about extra weight without talking about the importance of exercise. I’m preaching to myself, here. If we want to feel and look our best, exercise is going to have to be apart of our weekly routine.

2. Wear higher rise pants and jeans~If you have a muffin top, low rise pants are NOT your friend. We’ve all seen someone who is wearing low rise jeans and a tight t-shirt with a muffin top, it’s not appealing. So opt for a mid rise jean. I recently did a post for Liverpool jeans. They are jeans that flatter a woman’s body and help with hiding the muffin top.

3. Wear a Camisole~This offers a similar effect to shapewear and 90% of the time, I’m wearing a camisole. It helps smooth and I need all the smoothing I can get!

8 Ways To Hide That Muffin Top

 4. Layer your clothing~This is one of the most effective ways to hide the muffin top, especially during the cooler months. It’s easy to conceal a midsection by layering a structured jacket, cardigan, or a loose top over a collared shirt because it draws attention away from the midriff.

Okay, four down and four more to go! Go here as I share more ways to hide that muffin top.

Do you struggle with your waist line? Have you noticed it changing as you age?

Beauty For the Heart~~ I found this quote and Pinterest and I love it. “True beauty emantes from a woman who boldly and unabashedly knows who she is in Christ.” Amen!

Have a blessed day!

How To Style The Wrap Dress

I love to get emails from you all about how to style a certain outfit. I recently was asked how to style the wrap dress.

It’s no secret that I love the wrap dress. Why? Because it’s a timeless piece that’s flattering on almost every body type.

How-to-style-the-wrap-dress

So when I got this email from Krista, “I have an executive dinner next week for my husband’s work.  I’ve ordered this dress and this handbag.  Got any idea for accessories and shoes?”  I couldn’t wait to style it!

The dress is from Talbot’s and it’s sold out. I had to google an image and it was small so when I blew it up, it turned out fuzzy. Sorry about that.

I added a geometric necklace which are very popular this year.  I would wear small hoops or stud earrings since the necklace is the focus. Of course, you can add bracelets.

wrap dress

Because it’s January, and I assumed it’s cold where she lives, I styled it with black tights and boots. I’ve been looking for a cute pair of booties and these from Zappos are perfect for winter weather.

The question, I get all the time is, “What do I wear, pantyhose or tights?”. I’ve talked about this before and it’s one of my most popular posts.

I had to close the comments because apparently there are a lot of men out there who have a thing about women in hose and the comments were getting dirty, very dirty.

But here’s a quote from the book, How Not To Look Old by Charla Krupp. “You want your legs to look great, but they should meld seamlessly into your outfit, not scream for attention.”

Another quote from her book, “There are going to be occasions when you will feel the need to cover your legs. At this fashion moment, nude panty hose are the devil, and you should avoid them like the plague.”

Now I know some of you disagree. Some of you are required to wear hose to work, but to look younger I would go with opaque or sheer black, brown or navy hose. Never nude.

If you have pretty legs, when the weather is warmer you can add tanning lotion to your legs and not wear hose at all.

Okay, what are your thoughts on hose? How would you style this dress?

Beauty For the Heart~~To be God’s servant, you must be moldable and remain in the hand of the Master. John 15:5, I am the vine; you are the branches I a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

 Have a blessed day!
