Spring 2014 Hairstyle Trends

I always love to look at hairstyle trends. Not that I’m going to do anything drastic but I like to see what trends are coming our way. There are some crazy ones but here are the Spring 2014 Hairstyle Trends that I like.

2014 Hair Style Trends

The pixie cut seems to still be a hot trend. I love it but I can’t imagine having my hair this short. These women wear it well.

The bob haircut still seems to be showing up everywhere. I love the asymmetrical bob and the wavy bob. Both of these styles would look great on women over 40.

The deep side part is very trendy. I love this look and it has a softening effect on women over 40 so I think this is a great style.

Loose waves are popular and are perfect if you have longer hair.

Other trends are the very low pony tail, braids, stick straight hair, soft up dos and the greasy look (Ugh!).

A change of seasons always seems to make me want to change my hair. Are you in the mood for a change with your hair?

My Favorite Hair Care Products

My Favorite Hair Care Products

Yesterday, I shared my angled bob haircut so today I’m sharing my favorite hair care products. I do change my hair care products at times but these are the ones I’m using right now.

I have straight fine hair but I have a lot of it. Because I color treat my hair and use a blow dryer and flat iron, I struggle with dry over-treated hair.

I use Paul Mitchell Thicken Up®STYLING LIQUID. This product makes thin strands look and feel thicker without a heavy product feel.

My Favorite Hair Care Products

I also use Aquage Uplifting Foam. If you like volume this will give it to you. You spray Aquage at the root area for maximum volume and lift. I only use this on the back of my hair.

My Favorite Hair Care Products

I’ve recently started using Macadamia Healing Oil Spray and I’m in love with it!

My Favorite Hair Care Products

Here’s what it helps with~

  • Provides intense nourishment
  • Long lasting tangle + frizz-free finish
  • Amazing shine and manageability
  • Instantaneous absorption
  • Light-weight, non-greasy feel
  • Extends color treatment life
  • Natural UV protection

You can use this on dry or wet hair. I use a small amount before blow drying my hair and it has really helped! My hair feels and looks healthier.

Have you tried any of these products? What do you use on your hair? I’d love to know!

The Angled Bob Haircut

One of the emails I get quite often is about my hair. What do you call your cut? Could you show us the back? Well, I’m finally getting around to sharing my angled bob haircut.

I guess I’m like most women, I don’t love my hair. I wish I could wear it longer but it starts to look stringy when it gets too long.

But for those of you wanting to see different views of my hair, here you go!

The Angled Bob Haircut

The back is stacked with some layering.

The Angled Bob Haircut

This is the right side. I wear my bangs side swept so they’re cut at an angle.

The Angled Bob Haircut

This is the left side. I generally keep this side pulled behind my ear.

Another question I get a lot is what products do you use in your hair? So stop back by tomorrow and I’ll share what I’m using right now.

Why do we always want the hair that we don’t have? I wish I had long hair with curls!

Beauty For the Heart~~But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31

How I Style My Bangs

Hey friends! I’m still working on my Youtube channel. I did a video today on How I Style My Bangs.

Music played in my video, “The O’Neill Brothers Group-All in All”, sound recording administered by:
The Orchard Music

Lyrics:
You are my strength when I am weak
You are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all
I’m seeking You like a precious jewel
Lord, to give up I’d be a fool
You are my all in all

Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name

Taking my cross my sin my shame
Raising again I praise Your name
You are my all in all
When I fall down You pick me up
When I run dry You fill my cup
You are my all in all

Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name

Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name

You are my strength when I am weak
You are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all
When I fall down You pick me up
When I run dry You fill my cup
You are my all in all

Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name, lets go
Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name

Thanks for stopping by! Have a blessed day!

5 Tips To Healthy Summer Hair

Every summer the sun and heat take a toll on my hair. This year, I’m getting a jump start on my summer hair by being proactive. Today I’m sharing 5 Tips To Healthy Summer Hair.

5 Tips To Healthy Summer Hair

Tip #1-Wear a hat at the beach and pool. Thankfully there are lots of cute beach hats and these will protect your hair from the sun. If you color treat or highlight your hair this will protect your color. If you don’t want to wear a hat but still want to protect your hair, lather on some conditioner and pull your hair back in a ponytail or clip. This acts like a mask against the sun.

Tip #2-Use sulfate free shampoos and conditioners. Sulfate is a chemical added to shampoos and conditioners. It can be drying and I try to steer clear from it. I love using L’Oreal EverPure Volume Shampoo and Conditioner.

Tip #3-Lower the heat on your blower dryer. Although the higher heat will blow dry your hair faster, it also damages your hair. I recommend using an ionic blow dryer with the nozzle attached.

Tip #4-Get a trim or a dusting every 4-6 weeks. If you color treat, blow dry, flat iron, etc., your hair needs extra care. A light trim all over, sometimes called a dusting, will give your hair an instant lift and overall healthier look.

Tip#5-Deep condition your hair once a week. Conditioning is a must for me! There are lots of deep conditioners but an inexpensive and good one is Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask. It’s for over-processed and color treated hair. I use it before I go to bed. I shampoo my hair and then treat it with this deep conditioner. It makes my hair feel soft and healthy!

I love to be outside (especially by the pool!) during the summer but I don’t want my hair to pay the price. I’m using these simple tips to keep my hair looking great!

What do you use to help with your hair? Do you struggle in the summer with dry hair?

Beauty For the Heart~~I’m reading through the book of James. Chapter 3 verse 18 jumped out at me so I looked it up in several versions. I loved reading it from The Message.

Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor. James 3:17-18

I want to be that kind of woman. Holy, overflowing with mercy and blessings!

How I Add Volume To My Hair

How I Add Volume To My Hair

It’s no secret that I like volume when it comes to my hair. I blame it on being a teenager in the 80s! Thankfully I have left the curly permed hair behind!

I’ve recently found a product that I like as well as the Aquage Uplifting Foam. It’s Aveda Volumizing Tonic and it does a great job of adding volume to my hair.

I like the smell, and the way it feels in my hair. It doesn’t leave any sticky residue and works great on fine to medium hair.

Here’s what I do:

  • I lift sections of my hair near the crown and spray Volumizing Tonic to the scalp area.
  • Then I use a round brush, blow dryer and hands to enhance the volume.

It’s not easy to take pictures of the back of your hair but I tried!

How I Add Volume To My Hair

This product can be found at a lot of salons so it should be easy to find. If you like a little volume you might want to give it a try!

Do you have a favorite hair product? Have you tried Aveda Volumizing Tonic?
