How I Style My Bangs

Hey friends! I’m still working on my Youtube channel. I did a video today on How I Style My Bangs.

Music played in my video, “The O’Neill Brothers Group-All in All”, sound recording administered by:
The Orchard Music

Lyrics:
You are my strength when I am weak
You are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all
I’m seeking You like a precious jewel
Lord, to give up I’d be a fool
You are my all in all

Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name

Taking my cross my sin my shame
Raising again I praise Your name
You are my all in all
When I fall down You pick me up
When I run dry You fill my cup
You are my all in all

Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name

Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name

You are my strength when I am weak
You are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all
When I fall down You pick me up
When I run dry You fill my cup
You are my all in all

Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name, lets go
Jesus, Lamb of God
Holy is Your name

5 Tips To Healthy Summer Hair

Every summer the sun and heat take a toll on my hair. This year, I’m getting a jump start on my summer hair by being proactive. Today I’m sharing 5 Tips To Healthy Summer Hair.

5 Tips To Healthy Summer Hair

Tip #1-Wear a hat at the beach and pool. Thankfully there are lots of cute beach hats and these will protect your hair from the sun. If you color treat or highlight your hair this will protect your color. If you don’t want to wear a hat but still want to protect your hair, lather on some conditioner and pull your hair back in a ponytail or clip. This acts like a mask against the sun.

Tip #2-Use sulfate free shampoos and conditioners. Sulfate is a chemical added to shampoos and conditioners. It can be drying and I try to steer clear from it. I love using L’Oreal EverPure Volume Shampoo and Conditioner.

Tip #3-Lower the heat on your blower dryer. Although the higher heat will blow dry your hair faster, it also damages your hair. I recommend using an ionic blow dryer with the nozzle attached.

Tip #4-Get a trim or a dusting every 4-6 weeks. If you color treat, blow dry, flat iron, etc., your hair needs extra care. A light trim all over, sometimes called a dusting, will give your hair an instant lift and overall healthier look.

Tip#5-Deep condition your hair once a week. Conditioning is a must for me! There are lots of deep conditioners but an inexpensive and good one is Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask. It’s for over-processed and color treated hair. I use it before I go to bed. I shampoo my hair and then treat it with this deep conditioner. It makes my hair feel soft and healthy!

I love to be outside (especially by the pool!) during the summer but I don’t want my hair to pay the price. I’m using these simple tips to keep my hair looking great!

What do you use to help with your hair? Do you struggle in the summer with dry hair?

Beauty For the Heart~~I’m reading through the book of James. Chapter 3 verse 18 jumped out at me so I looked it up in several versions. I loved reading it from The Message.

Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor. James 3:17-18

I want to be that kind of woman. Holy, overflowing with mercy and blessings!

How I Add Volume To My Hair

How I Add Volume To My Hair

It’s no secret that I like volume when it comes to my hair. I blame it on being a teenager in the 80s! Thankfully I have left the curly permed hair behind!

I’ve recently found a product that I like as well as the Aquage Uplifting Foam. It’s Aveda Volumizing Tonic and it does a great job of adding volume to my hair.

I like the smell, and the way it feels in my hair. It doesn’t leave any sticky residue and works great on fine to medium hair.

Here’s what I do:

  • I lift sections of my hair near the crown and spray Volumizing Tonic to the scalp area.
  • Then I use a round brush, blow dryer and hands to enhance the volume.

It’s not easy to take pictures of the back of your hair but I tried!

This product can be found at a lot of salons so it should be easy to find. If you like a little volume you might want to give it a try!

Do you have a favorite hair product? Have you tried Aveda Volumizing Tonic?

Does Michelle Obama Read My Blog?

Okay, I couldn’t help myself, I have to mention Michelle Obama’s bangs. Why? Because as women over 40 we’ve talked about bangs.

Last October, I wrote about bangs and how they soften our appearance. Once you reach a certain age, you look better with bangs. (There are exceptions, for instance if you have a cowlick.)

So did Mrs. Obama google hair for women over 40 and read my post? I’m sure she did not! But I think it’s obvious by looking at before and after pictures that bangs soften her look.

Does Michelle Obama Read My BlogCharla Krupp from How Not to Look Old says, “Bangs are a cheap and easy way to chic up your look. They also accentuate the positive and camouflage the negative.” I don’t know about you all but I’m all about camouflaging the negative! :-)

So what do you all think? Do you think bangs soften our look? What have you done to soften your look?

Don’t forget there’s still time to enter the Liverpool jeans giveaway, just go here!

***This is not a political post just a fun post about bangs.

Over 40 Beauty Tips-Hair

One of the things we talk about a lot around here is hair. I’m certainly not an expert! But I have noticed a few things about aging (ahem) and the importance of softening our appearance.

I’ve recently noticed a high profile person, who I feel needs a softer look. Let me begin by saying I don’t want to be mean spirited at all. She is busy, works incredibly hard and I’m not in her shoes. I’m guessing it’s out of convenience that she has let her hair grow. When you’re traveling the world as Secretary of State, I’m sure fashion is not the first thing on your mind.

Mrs. Clinton is a beautiful lady with a beautiful smile but her long hair doesn’t seem to be her best look.

With that being said, I think Mrs. Clinton looks much older with her long hair and no bang look.

Mrs. Clinton has great hair but by cutting a few inches off and adding bangs she would have a much softer look. It would also lift her face and remember as we age we want everything lifted up!

My guess is when her life slows down, she will cut her hair. I could definitely see her with this look–I wish my hair looked like this!

So today, just a reminder that as we age it’s better to cut a few inches off and add bangs for a softer look.

Have you noticed your hair changing as you age? Have you had to cut a few inches off or add bangs?
