My New Favorite Lip Balm

L'Oreal Lip Balm
It’s no secret that I have an obsession with lip balms. I can’t seem to have enough of them. I recently tried L’Oreal lip balm and it’s my new favorite.

I’m using the color Nourishing Nude #818. It’s one of those “barely there” colors that I love using in the summer.

I can carry it in my pocket and put it on without using a mirror. It feels great on my lips!

I also love that I can pick it up at CVS Pharmacy or Wal-Mart and they have a variety of colors to choose from. It’s also reasonably priced.

Have you tried any lip balms lately? What’s your favorite one?

My Favorite Hair Products

Many of you have asked about the hair products I use so I thought I’d share my favorite hair products. I change them every once in a while but this is what I’m using right now.

I use L’Oreal EverPure Shampoo and Conditioner. I usually use the volume shampoo and conditioner.

I also use L’Oreal Everstrong overnight hair repair treatment at night to help with my dry hair. I put it on my ends and leave it in while I sleep. It helps to keep your hair healthy!

I use Aquage uplifting foam to help with volume and I have to be careful not to use too much! It’s a root lifter and it gives you a lot of volume!

I use Paul Mitchell strength before I blow dry my hair. It’s for chemically treated hair. It helps strengthen weak hair, replace lost nutrients and prevent breakage. I blow dry and flat iron my hair everyday so this is a must for me!

I asked my husband to take pictures of my hair. He can’t work my camera so he had to use the automatic setting so these pictures aren’t great but they’re better than nothing.

My haircut is an angled bob, I have fine hair, but I have a lot of it. If that makes sense?

5 Ways To Fake Thick Hair

Okay, since several of you have emailed me hair questions I’m going to talk about hair today and I’m sharing 5 Ways To Fake Thick Hair.

Several of you asked if I had thick hair. I texted my hair stylist and asked her if I had thick hair, thin hair, or in between. She said I have fine hair with a lot of strands so it’s in between. I thought that’s what she would say, I just wanted to be sure.

I think my haircut helps to make my hair look thick but it’s really not so, here are some things I do to fake thick hair:

1. Fake thick hair by using a volume enhancing shampoo and conditioner. I personally use L’Oreal Paris EverPure Volume Shampoo, 8.5-Fluid Ounce and L’Oreal Paris EverPure Volume Conditioner, 8.5-Fluid Ounce. Avoid shampoos and conditioners that contain moisturizers because they weigh hair down.

2. Use a thickening gel or mousse. I use Paul Mitchell Extra Body Thicken Up, 6.8-Ounces Bottle

This product has made a huge difference in my hair feeling thicker. I use it everyday!

3. Blow dry your hair from root to tip with a round brush. Turn your head over several times while blow drying to add lift.

4. Tease hair at the crown for added appearance of full, thick hair. Don’t overdue this but a little can add volume and thickness. Of course if you read my fall hair trends the teased look is in!

5. Choose hairstyles that flatter fine hair such as a short, classic bob, or a medium, classic bob. Also, a shoulder-grazing cut angled in long layers around the face is flattering. If you have fine hair, the longer you let it grow, the thinner it will look. If you feel your hair is looking thin or stringy, try cutting off a couple of inches.

These are 5 tips I use to fake thick hair. Do you have any suggestions? Let me know!

A few weeks ago I posted some products I use to help with my dry hair from using a blow dryer and flat iron everyday. These two products have helped my hair so much! You can find them here.

5 Tips To Keep Your Hair Healthy

Good morning! I hope you had a great 4th of July! With all the sun and heat, I’ve noticed it’s taking a toll on my hair. I already have extremely dry hair and being outside in the sun makes it even worse. I also use a flat iron on my hair everyday and have my hair colored every 4 to 5 weeks. I have a few (wink!) gray hairs so I have to have my hair colored.

Because my hair is feeling extremely dry, I’ve decided to add some products to my daily hair care routine and make sure I’m following a few hair care tips that will help keep my hair healthy.

Here are some tips and products I’m using this summer:

1. L’Oreal Paris EverStrong Overnight Treatment, 3.4-Fluid Ounce. I’ve just started using this and I love the way it makes my hair feel.

You put one to two pumps of the treatment on your hair before you go to bed at night. You will wake up to stronger hair. This lightweight gel-serum formula conditions hair leaving it soft and silky.

 2. Use a serum before applying any heat to your hair and to protect it from getting damaged. Serums will keep your hair ultra-shiny, silky, smooth, and frizz-free. I haven’t always done this but because I use a flat iron so often I’ve decided to try this serum, Got2b Guardian Angel Flat Iron Balm with Gloss Finish, 6.8-Ounce (Pack of 2).

 3. Take vitamins and drink plenty of water! Water promotes health in every area of the body and it cleanses out unwanted enzymes. Also, try taking vitamins, E and A are the best for skin and hair health.

4. Invest in an ionic hair dryer. Ordinary hair dryers dry your hair out by drying up the water and the moisture in your hair. Ionic hair dryers use ions to soften and shine your hair. It works with the water and the moisture leaving your hair soft, shiny, and a lot healthier!

 5. Get your hair trimmed every 3 to 5 months. Okay, I get my hair trimmed much more often because I get my hair colored. But it’s important to trim your hair to remove split ends.

These 5 tips and products can help your hair look healthy and shiny this summer!

Do you have any products that you use to help keep your hair healthy? I’d love to know what you use!

Picking The Right Foundation~Liquid Foundations

Good morning ladies!

This week we’re talking about picking the right foundation for your face.

Yesterday, we talked about mineral foundations and tinted moisturizers.

Today, we’re going to talk about liquid foundations.

Liquid foundations have been around forever but the liquid foundations today

aren’t the same foundations our mothers and grandmothers wore.

Today’s liquid foundations are much better!

Liquid Foundation is ideal for: All Skin types.

Liquid foundations offer sheer to medium coverage and have a very natural look.

You can buy good liquid foundations at your local drugstore. L’Oreal and Revlon

both have great liquid foundations and are very reasonably priced.

You can also visit a local mall and have professional makeup artists help you.

MAC and Bobbi Brown are both known for their great liquid foundations.

What does liquid foundation do?

Liquid foundations even out the skin tone by smoothing out any unevenness.

It helps cover up blemishes and fine lines and can take years off your appearance.

Oily Skin:

If you have oily skin, you’ll want to look for a liquid foundation that says “oil-free”.

Dry Skin:

Use an oil-based liquid foundation. Stay away from the matte finishes because they

make dry skin look lifeless, dull and chalky. Also make sure you use a good moisturizer

before applying your foundation.

Acne Skin:

If you have acne prone skin choose an “oil free”  foundation.

Look for the word “noncomedogenic” on the label, or “salicylic acid”

listed in the ingredients.

These foundations will keep pores more clear than other foundation varieties would.

They help you keep new breakouts from surfacing and cover up the

acne you already have.

Mature Skin:

If you have more mature skin liquid foundation can cover up fine lines and wrinkles.

Choose a foundation that moisturizes the skin and evens out your skin tone.

Liquid foundation can give you a more youthful glow! Woo hoo!

How to apply liquid foundation:

Use a makeup sponge or a foundation brush.

Beauty For the Heart~~Christ’s love for us should compel us to love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8  “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast;

it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;

it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things,

believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies,

will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.”

As Christians we need to be sharing Christ’s love.

Many people may only see Christ by seeing our lives~So Love Well!

How can you show Christ’s love this week?

Let’s Talk Hair Today!

Good morning!

You guys are too sweet! You were so kind to me in your comments of my first hair style video tutorial.

Most of you even liked my “mid-life crisis” blond streak{wink}. I am going to keep it right now.

Many of you had questions that I didn’t think to tell you in my video. I was also trying to keep it as short as possible.

My attention span is short so I’m assuming most of you are like me, and time is an issue.

I’m going to do my best to answer your questions so if there’s something else you would like to know, just leave me a comment.

Here’s what I do and the products I use on my hair:

  • I do wash my hair every day. I use enough product in my hair that it looks better if I wash it. My hair is course and tends to be dry so I condition a lot. I wish I didn’t have to wash it everyday, but I do.
  • I get my hair cut and colored every 4-5 weeks. Because I blow dry and use a flat iron every day my hair usually needs a trim and I have enough gray hair {ahem} that I need the color.
  • I change my hair products at times but right now I’m using L’Oreal EverPure shampoo and conditioner. I’m using the smooth shampoo and conditioner.
  • I’m also using Paul Mitchell strength. It’s a Super Strong Liquid Treatment that strengthens and repairs and I need it. I spray it on my hair after I’ve washed and conditioned it. If you have dry hair and color your hair this stuff is great!
  • Aquage uplifting foam~this is what gives my hair lift. I started using it after I read The Small Things Blog and I love it! I can’t find it in my area, so I order it from ebay or Amazon. I’ve ordered from both. If you want volume this stuff really works!
  • Lastly, I use Kenra volume spray ( I have a thing for volume, have you noticed?). It holds your style but you can brush through it if you need to. It is good!

I hope this helps and again let me know if you have any other questions.

I would love to hear from you, what products do you use and really like?

Beauty For the Heart~~This month I’m teaching from Colossians in my Sunday School class. I love the book of Colossians and I praise the Lord for verses like Colossians 2:13,

“You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.  He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.”

Oh ladies our sins have been nailed to the cross! Let’s not live defeated lives because of Jesus Christ we can live victoriously!
