Happy Mother’s Day!

I shared this picture and these words on my facebook page yesterday and I wanted to share it with you too.

Happy Mother's Day!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have to say I would love to have one more hug from my Mom, one more time to hear her say “I love you”, one more time to wake up and call her first thing in the morning, one more time to hear her say, “Cyndi you’re a great Mom!”, one more time for her to remind me of God’s grace and how it covers all my past mistakes.

But I know more than anything Mom would want me to say to you, “Love Jesus with all your heart, your soul, and your mind.” She would say “Run to Him, don’t walk, because He’s our only hope!”

Happy Mother’s Day friends!!!

***If you’ve been reading my blog for very long, you know how much I love my Mom and how much I miss her. Today I’m praying for all of you that have lost your Mom’s. May you feel the peace and comfort that only Christ can give.

Mother’s Day Outfits

It’s hard to believe this weekend is Mother’s day. It’s still a little difficult for me since losing my Mom in 2009. I miss her so much! If you still have your Mom hug her extra tight, there’s nothing like a Mother’s love.

We do have an exciting weekend because my son is graduating from Law school this Saturday. I know my Mom would be so proud of him! Mom adored Cory and he adored her!

This picture was taken at Cory’s high school graduation in 2006. He was picked as the Salutatorian of his graduating class and Mom and Dad were thrilled. He went on to play college basketball at Asbury College, where he graduated in 2010.

Mother's Day Outfits

With all the celebrations, I’m trying to figure out what to wear. Do I wear a dress, pants, capri pants, etc.??

Here are some tips if you’re trying to decide what to wear for Mother’s Day:

1. If you’re going to wear something you already have but want to update your outfit add some cute accessories. I love to do this! I recently purchased this coral stud bracelet from J Crew (remember when I said studs were in style and you all said you couldn’t wear them?).  The thick gold bracelet is from JC Penney’s and the cross bracelet is from Francesca’s.

Mother's Day Outfits

2. Update an outfit you already have by updating your shoes. This can make all the difference and it’s an easy way for women our age to look trendy. Right now wedge heels are everywhere so adding them to your outfit will give it an updated look.

3. My rule of thumb is, “it’s better to be over dressed than under dressed”. Thankfully, women’s styles are dressier and more feminine right now and I’m glad. So if you’re not sure what to wear, go with something dressy and feminine and you’ll look great!

Here are some outfits (new and old) I’ve put together that would be perfect for Mother’s day.

How are you celebrating Mother’s Day? Do you know what you’re wearing?

Beauty For the Heart~~I shared this poem in 2011. My brother wrote it right before my Mom passed away so I thought in honor of Mom, I’d share it again.

There is None Better!

I hear people brag about their moms, but if they ever met mine they would know. There is none better.

You think you know a Christian that talks the talk and walks the walk? Well let me introduce you to my mom. There is none better.

I always thought the best way to describe a Christian is “Servant.” You should meet my mom. There is none better.

Do you know someone who is unselfish? Puts everyone above themselves? Would give you anything they had? I call her Wanda Faye, she’s my mom, and trust me, There is none better.

I’ve known her 37 years. I’ve seen her faithfulness. I’ve gotten up at 5 in the morning and found her reading her bible. I’ve watched her prepare to teach bible studies. This isn’t just a bias. I’m telling you! There is none better.

She’s fighting cancer now. She even does that selflessly and gracefully. I can’t tell you how many cards she has received. What does my mom do? She uses all the energy she has to try and write everyone back. Do I really need to do anymore convincing? There is none better.

If you’ve been fortunate enough to meet my mom you know what I mean. If she’s touched your hand, smiled that sweet smile, told you she loved you, told you she was praying for you, well consider yourself blessed…she meant every word. There is none better.

If the Lord does decide to take her home before we are ready. I can’t say I blame him. He knows what I do. There is none better. ~by Blake Long

Have a blessed day!

Mother’s Day Recap!

Good morning!

I hope your Mother’s Day was wonderful and you were able to spend some

time with your family.

I had a great Mother’s day even though the weather wasn’t the best.

It was cool and rainy. Yuck!

After church we went to the Beaumont Inn for lunch. It’s becoming a Mother’s day

tradition and I love it.

If you are ever in this area, you need to stop by and visit the Beaumont Inn.

It’s beautiful and historic!

Courtney and I love the food and the atmosphere. Of course we have to

have coffee with dessert.

Courtney got me this adorable wrapped canvas of Colt Allen for Mother’s day.

Best. gift. ever!

After lunch my Dad and I met my sister at Mom’s grave and we planted flowers (in the rain).

This is also becoming a tradition for us and although I miss my Mom, I enjoy visiting

her grave and planting flowers for her on Mother’s day.

My son was supposed to meet me for dinner, but on his way he got behind a wreck and

they shut the interstate down for twelve hours. I only got to talk to him on the phone.

I thought of so many of you, who have lost your Mom’s and I know how difficult

Mother’s day can be.

I pray in the midst of missing your Mom you were still able to celebrate.

I celebrated my Mom’s life and the legacy she has left me and I pray I can pass

that legacy down to my children and grandchildren.

Thanks for stopping by!

I’d love to hear from you. What did you do to celebrate Mother’s day?

Mother’s Day Gifts With A Message

This week we’re celebrating Mother’s Day with gift ideas.

Monday I shared some home decor and Tuesday I shared some trendy

handbags that any Mom would love.

Today, I’m going to share gifts with a message.

These are gifts that share scripture, which are probably the gifts my Mom loved the most.

A devotional book would be a wonderful gift, and there are many great devotional

books to choose from but these are a few of my favorites.

My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers~this is a classic but I still love using it.

Mom was using this one before she passed away. It had journal pages in it and she journaled

her thoughts and prayer requests along with her praises.

Jesus Calling, by Sarah Young has been a wonderful devotional book for me since

losing Mom. So many of the daily devotions have spoke right to my heart. I have used this

one on and off over the past three years.

This next gift is special because Mom gave all of us (her children, sisters and cousins) a

promise box before she passed away.

When we were little we used “Our Daily Bread” promise box with Bible promises in it.

My sister, and brother and I took turns reading one scripture, before our meals.

My Mom had even started doing this with her grandchildren and she wrote about it

on her blog before she passed away.

As you can imagine, I can’t wait to use this with Colt Allen when he gets a little older.

You can find these “Our Daily Bread” promise boxes at some christian bookstores.

You can also order them from DaySpring here.

This Mother’s Day, why not give your Mom a gift with a message. I’m sure she’ll love it!

Beauty For the Heart~~My Mom wrote for Home Life magazine during the 1990s and I

recently came across this devotion she had written. I can’t tell you how much I treasure

this, because it reminds me how Mom wanted to share Christ with her children.

Mom wrote, “As a young mother of three, I felt like a mama duck with three little ducklings

following close behind. When I walked slowly, they walked slowly; when I ran, the ran;

what I said, they said; what I ate, the ate. They imitated everything I did.

Therefore, I strived to be a good example, and always prayed for my children.

And you know what? The Lord never failed me. He heard my prayers as he hears every

mother pray for her child.

My most earnest prayer was to live until my children were grown so I could teach them,

during their formative yearsabout my Savior and what He means to me.

God promises us that if we are faithful in training our children in the ways of the Lord,

they will continue in those ways when they are older.

My ducklings are now grown, and they all love and serve Jesus. But my responsibility as a

Christian mother is far from finished. My grown children are still watching,

and Im still teaching and praying.

Mothers, the greatest legacy we can leave our children is a

right relationship with Jesus Christ!”

You finished well Mom! I love you!

Accessorize Your Mom This Mother’s Day With A Handbag

Good morning friends!

Today we’re going to continue to honor our Mom’s with gift ideas for Mother’s Day.

I was blessed to have an amazing Mother and although she is not with me here on earth

her legacy lives on in each of her children and her grandchildren.

I love the quote that says,  “A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie

for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.” ~Tenneva Jordan

That was my Mom. Although I know she loved pie, she would have given it to her children,

hands down. I have countless memories of Mom staying up half the night to make us a

costume, help us with a school project, or make cupcakes for a school party.

Looking back, I don’t know how she did it all! But I’m so thankful for my Mom and although

I’m heartbroken that she’s gone, I still want to celebrate her life!

If you’re looking for something special to get your Mom this Mother’s Day, why not accessorize

her with a cute handbag. There are so many to choose from this spring/summer season and I’m

sure any Mom could use a new handbag! Here are several that I love~

This over the shoulder is for the trendy Mom and would be great to carry when you don’t want

to worry with a big bulky purse. I also love the color!

Casually sipping coffee at Starbucks or running errands around town with your children in tow,

every Mom would love this carry-all shopper handbag by Liz Claiborne. It’s perfect for all occasions.

This stylish colorblock tote would make any Mom fashionable for the spring/summer season.

It’s by Simply Vera Vera Wang.

Again, this season is all about color blocking! With a simple trim and polished silvertone hardware,

this gorgeous Style&co. bag would be perfect for any Mom.

This is my favorite one by Steve Madden at Macy’s (actually there are others I like better

but they are way too pricey for me!) This handbag is elegant and highlights a pebbled texture

with shiny gold tone hardware, including chain-link detail on the detachable shoulder strap.

I love the chain-link detail and I’m on the hunt for a handbag that has that detail.

Accessories are a great way to add trendy fashion to any Mom’s wardrobe without having to

spend a lot of money. There are so many great ones to choose from!

Do you know what you’re getting your Mom for Mother’s Day? I’d love to know!

Beauty For the Heart~~One of the sweetest memories my sister and I have of Mom when she

was dying with cancer was at the hospital when she was receiving her first (and only) chemo

treatment. She looked so beautiful laying back in the chair hooked up to the IV that would

administer the drugs. It was hard for us to see and tears started streaming down Traci’s face.

I was trying hard not to cry and told her to try and be strong for Mom.

Mom saw Traci and said, “It’s okay, sweetie, you can cry.

You know what tears are, don’t you?”  Traci answered, “No.” Mom lovingly said,

“Tears are liquid prayers that flow straight to the heart of God.”

So typical of our Mom, always knowing just what to say.

On my, I can’t begin to tell you how many liquid prayers that have flown

straight to the heart of God over the loss of my Mom!

I wonder how many of you have recently shed some tears.

Maybe because of the loss of a loved one, or the end of a marriage, maybe you’ve been hurt

by a friend. Whatever your pain, your tears have not gone unnoticed by a loving God.

God hears, and oh how he cares!

Praying today that you will feel his never ending love for you.

He will wipe every tear from their eye. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain,

for the old order of things has passed away. Revelation 21:4

Celebrating Mother’s Day This Week!

Good morning!

This week I want to celebrate Mom’s since Mother’s Day is this Sunday.

Most of you know that I lost my Mom to cancer in  2009. I miss her terribly!

Let me remind you to treasure your Mom!

In honor of my Mom I want to celebrate this week with gifts that would be great to give your Mom.

I’ll share fashion, beauty products, and home decor that would be perfect for Mom’s.

Today, I’m going to share a gift for her home. Obviously, you have to order this and you won’t

get it before Sunday but a note in her card of what you ordered would be perfect.

One of my favorite things to decorate my home with is vinyl wall decals and my friend

Leen the Graphic Queen has lots to choose from.

I love adding vinyl decals to my rooms!

These initials for a bedroom would be beautiful for over the bed.

This is my bedroom and I added these initials a few years ago and I still love them!

I would really like to add this to my home in the future. This is a great reminder of our blessings.

It reads “To hear the laughter of a child, to wake up next to the love of your life,

to know that God has placed them on this earth for you, You Are Blessed”.

Leen also has canvas wall art and this is one of my favorites!

You can check out many more vinyl decals and wall art from Leen the Graphic Queen here.

I think any Mom would love to add this to her home decor!

What do you think? Do you decorate with vinyl wall decals?
