My Closet Organization

My-closet-organization

I shared with you a few weeks ago that I was going to get my closet organized. My husband and I shared our master bedroom walk-in closet but to be honest it isn’t large enough for the two of us. So I decided to bail out and use a closet in our guest bedroom.

my closet organization

This is how bad my closet had gotten. I will only show this picture one time, because I’m humiliated! My husband is a neat freak and this is what his side of the closet always looks like.

Here’s how I got organized and it’s working great!

storage bins
The closet in our guest bedroom is one large closet with two sets of doors. I bought some black and white storage bins to store belts and extra scarves.

shoes racks
I have door shoe racks to help me keep my shoes organized. I also folded my t-shirts instead of hanging them up.

sweaters

There are shelves where I can put my sweaters and my boots.

necklaces
I purchased these hooks to hang my necklaces. It’s so much neater and easy to get to and easier to see. (similar one here.)

Black Velvet Hangers
I also switched to these black velvet hangers and I love them. They have a space saving thin design and you can buy hangers for pants and for shirts/dresses.

That’s it, it’s not anything fancy but it works for me. I can see the clothes that I have and I’ve stayed much more organized.

Have you all done any organizing in your closets? Has your closet ever gotten as out of hand as mine did?

Beauty For the Heart~~This week we’re having a three day prayer revival at our church so prayer has been on my mind. Colossians 4:2 says, “Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.”

Have a blessed day!

Favorite “Pins” Friday

Well if you follow me on Pinterest or if you have liked my facebook page, you probably know what I’m pinning today.

It’s January 18th and I’m finally getting in the mood to organize. It’s seems January 1 everyone hits it hard with organizational posts but I still had my Christmas tree up and I wasn’t ready!

Now. I’m. ready. and I’m tackling my clothes closet. I will share it with you when I get it done but for now I’m just looking for inspiration.

I’ve definitely got to find a way to organize my necklaces. I’m going to take a picture of the way I have them now and share it with you soon. It’s not good!

I’m hoping to get started this weekend on my closet organization. Wish me luck!

Do you have an organized clothes closet? Any “must haves” that you want to share with me?

Have a blessed weekend!

It’s a New Year!

Happy New Year! I’m always excited about a New Year. It’s a clean, fresh slate!

The beginning of a New Year is a great time to get organized. I’m wanting to organize some things at home but I’m also trying to think of ways to organize my blog.

One of the things I’m implementing is a Gallery Page. You can see where I’ve added it in my header below.

Welcome 2013!
I’ll be adding more of my posts on fashion, beauty and hair tips so keep checking back. I’m hoping it will help you all find things easier.

Another thing I’d like to add to my blog is more video tutorials. But to tell you the truth, I don’t like videoing myself—AT ALL.

My sister always says I’m way too serious in my videos, which is not my personality. If you’re around me for very long, you’ll know I love to laugh!

Well, with the beginning of a New Year, I wanted to personalize my Happy New Year message. Instead of just writing Happy New Year, I tried to say it. But to say it was a flop is an understatement.

I also realized that when I say blog, I say it with two syllables, kind of like this, blo-og. It sounds terrible but it’s my southern drawl coming out! I edited that word out until I can say it with one syllable. :-)

So as you can imagine one of my goals this year is to get better at vlogging. We’ll see!

Have a blessed day!

Favorite “pins” Friday-Organization

Happy Friday! Well, Christmas is barely over and I’m ready to start cleaning up and getting organized for the New Year. So my “pins” today are all about organization.

Luckily, I have a friend that is an organization expert, Becky from Organizing Made Fun. Her blog is such a great help. Thousands of ideas!

Becky introduced me to these black velvet hangers. They are thin and help maximize closet space. I have started transitioning to these hangers.

Amazon has Velvet Hangers and I’m planning on ordering some soon! You can go here to see them!

Velvet Hangers

I found this on Pinterest for organizing your necklaces. They’re silverware trays! I would love to do this!

I have lots of scarves (imagine that!). I found this belt hanger and I use it for my scarves.

They hang nicely and they’re easy to get to.

I found them on Amazon and you can go here to order one.

Are you in the mood for organizing? Are you always looking for ideas?

Thanks for stopping by!

Beauty For the Heart~~I found this poem on another blog and I remembered my Mom having it, it’s very inspiring. The author is unknown.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow—
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out—
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit—
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Have a blessed day!

What I Wore

Happy Hump Day! Boy, am I ready for some Fall “What I Wore” posts. I’m a little tired of my summer clothes. I’ve been organizing (my friend Becky would be very proud of me) my closet so I’m wearing several things I found in there and haven’t worn all summer. It seems to have a black theme but thankfully I saved myself and popped some color in the last picture.

I’ve had this zebra print collared shirt for several years. I think I purchased it at Stein Mart but it’s been so long I’m not sure. BTW, I never (obviously that’s not true, I had to once) shop at Stein Mart. Do any of you all?

Jean vest~Goodwill

Black dress~Kohl’s, several years ago

White tank~Banana Republic outlet

Black sandals~Shoe Carnival

Blank top~not sure where I purchased this. I’ve had it for several years

Skinny Jeans~Lauren Conrad, Kohl’s

Gold bracelet~Macy’s

Leopard print flats~Target

Coral top~JCPenney

Jean capris~TJ Maxx

Scarf~Walmart

Gray Sandals~Kohl’s

Some of these pieces of clothing may be exiting my closet for good. I’m trying to only keep the things I wear and I’m  making room for my Fall clothes.

Are you all ready for Fall? Do you get tired of your clothes at the end of each season like I do?

Beauty For the Heart~~God has been nudging me lately to make sure I’m nurturing my friendships. Both my online friends and my real life friends.

Friendship is a gift and it takes time to build strong friendships. But as women, we need them. We don’t need to be so busy in our daily lives that we neglect spending time with other women.

So this week take some time to call a friend, have lunch or send a note. You’ll be blessed!

Friendship can weather most things and thrive in thin soil-but it needs a little mulch of letters and phone calls and small silly presents every so often-just to save it from drying out completely. -Pam Brown

Have a great day!

Every Time I Think Of You I Give Thanks!

Hey friends!

This has been a fun week for me here on blogland. I shared with you on Tuesday about a new site called Sisters in Bloom that I will be writing for on a monthly basis. You can read more about it here.

I’m super excited about this new opportunity and the amazing women I’ll be working with. We’ve been praying about Sisters in Bloom for months and there has been a lot of behind the scenes preparation going on.

I don’t want you to miss out on this ministry so make sure you like us on facebook and connect with us at Sisters in Bloom!

Today I wanted to do a little blog management around here. I appreciate each of you so much for stopping by and I wish we could sit down together with coffee in hand and chat for hours.

Actually that’s kind of what I imagine we’re doing as you stop by and visit with me every day. So many of you leave comments, connect with me on my facebook page and email me and I try my best to get back with each of you. I love hearing from you!

Many of you may have noticed that blogs are beginning to remove the “Followers” of Google Friend Connect from their sidebars. This is because Google has pulled the plug on this reader-network for wordpress (and other) bloggers. Basically, my feed will no longer show up in your reader.

In order to keep getting updates, and to continue to follow my blog (oh, please do!), you can follow me in several other ways. Just click on one of the links below.

  • To email subscribe (which means my posts come directly to your email) click here.

I hope you will continue to walk with me on this journey and if you haven’t introduced yourself, please do!

Thank you again for stopping by and have a wonderful Thursday!

Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. Philippians 1:3
