5 Beauty Tips To Get Us Ready For Spring!

Although the weather has not started showing signs of spring here, I know warmer weather is right around the corner. So today I’m sharing 5 Beauty Tips To Get Us Ready For Spring.

5 Beauty Tips To Get Us Ready For Spring

1. Exfoliate-After a long, cold winter my body needs lots of exfoliating. I have a wonderful homemade exfoliant I’ve been using that a friend gave me. I’ll share the recipe with you soon.

2. Moisturize and hydrate-Do you suffer from dry skin? My hands, elbows, knees etc. need extra moisturizing this time of the year. I’m also trying to drink lots of water to help my skin look it’s best.

I’ve been using St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin as a body lotion and I really like it.

3. Get a pedicure-Sandal weather will be here soon and nothing looks worse than putting them on with cracked heels and chipped polish. Now is the time to get those toes and feet looking good whether you have a pedicure or do your own.

4. Use a self-tanner-I’m not a fan of tanning beds and although I do love to get out in the sun, I limit my sun exposure. Self tanners are perfect for sundresses and shorts weather.

I’m using SUN LABORATORIES Self Tanning Lotion Tan Overnight – Medium

5. Lighten up your makeup-One of the trends this spring is a more natural look so put away heavy foundations, dark lipsticks (women over 40 shouldn’t be wearing dark lipsticks anyway) and opt for lighter look. BB creams are still popular and I’m on the hunt for a  good one.

These are my 5 beauty tips to get us ready for spring, what do you do to prepare for spring weather?

Beauty For the Heart~~I read this last week and thought it was true, “Christians need to guard constantly against the tendancy toward complacency and indifference about our relationship with God.” We always need to strive to be more like Christ!

Have a blessed day!

Spring Cleaning Your Heart

One of things I love about living in Kentucky is that we have all four seasons.

Just when I’ve had enough of one season, a new season begins.

Although we’ve had a fairly mild winter this year, I’m still ready for spring.

As the weather begins to change and the sun begins to shine, it sparkles through my windows.

I start to notice my windows look dirty from the winter months and I need to start my spring cleaning.

I heard a recent poll that said 58% of women spring clean which includes window washing, cleaning blinds, cleaning the refrigerator, microwave, walls and baseboards, etc.

Something about spring makes us want to clean.

Simply Sunday~A Promise of New Life

Yesterday my husband and I stopped by my Mom’s grave. I miss my Mom terribly but I know without a doubt, Mom is in heaven.

That doesn’t make me miss her any less, and for some reason I have a need to go and visit her grave regularly.

I can’t explain it except that that is the last place I saw her earthly body and sometimes I just need to go and spend time there.

Many times I go by myself but yesterday Wayne went with me.

We stopped and got flowers and as we were driving to the cemetery, Wayne said, “Cyndi, you know those flowers are going to die in this cold weather, right?”

Yep, I do, but I still want to take flowers for Valentine’s Day. He smiles at me and says, “Okay.”

When we got there, there was snow on the ground and it was really, really cold.

I put my flowers in front of Mom’s grave and as I was walking around I saw the buttercups we had planted starting to pop up out of the ground.

Buttercups were my Mom’s favorite flower. She loved Spring and the promise of new life.

Those buttercups were a sweet reminder to me that Mom has that new life too!

In something as simple as buttercups starting to sprout out of the ground I’m reminded that we have a heavenly home.

For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 5:1-5

Today, no matter what you’re going through I want you to know that it’s temporary.

You may not understand it right now but it’s all in God’s plan. Remember, we’re not home yet!

Have a blessed Sunday!

Adding Color That Will Flatter Your Skin Tone

Yesterday we talked about some basic wardrobe essentials we need to have in our closet.

Today we’re going to add color by looking at our skin tones!

Color Your life
{Source}

Years ago when my husband and I started dating he told me his favorite color was orange. Of course, I immediately went out and bought some clothes that were orange.

I kept noticing how bad I looked. My dark circles were even darker. I didn’t have any color in my face and I looked tired!

I finally realized that orange was not my color! If I’m going to wear orange, it can’t be anywhere near my face.

That’s why it’s important to know what colors look best on you.

With the right colors:

  • Your skin tone will have a glow
  • Your eyes will appear brighter
  • Your hair will reflect it’s natural highlights
  • You will hear compliments such as “That is your color, you look great!”

With the wrong colors:

  • Your skin tone will appear tired
  • Your eyes may appear shadowed, and you’ll see dark circles
  • You will hear comments – such as “You look tired today” “Are you feeling OK?”

First, determine your skin tone:

Winter complexions have blue or pink undertones. Skin can be pale white, yellowish-olive, or dark. Winter people are generally brunettes, with dark eye color.

Summer complexions have blue or pink undertones. Skin is pale and pink. Summers are often natural blondes or brunettes with pale eyes.

Autumn complexions have golden undertones. Many redheads and brunettes with golden brown eyes fall into this category.

Spring complexions have golden undertones and are usually creamy white or peach. Spring people generally have blonde or red hair, freckles, rosy cheeks, and blue or green eyes.

Now, choose clothes to flatter your skin tone:

Winters should wear colors that are sharp, stark and clear. White, black, navy blue, red and shocking pink all go well with winter complexions. For lighter colors, wear icy tones rather than pastels. Avoid subdued tones like beige, orange and gold

Summers should choose pastels and soft neutrals with rose and blue undertones. Lavender, plum, rose-brown and soft blue work well, while black and orange do not.

Autumns should select colors with golden undertones, like camel, beige, orange, gold and dark brown. Avoid colors with blue tones, like navy.

Springs can wear warm colors like camel, peach, golden yellow and golden brown. Avoid dark, dull colors.

So there you have it! Know which season you are and then buy colors that flatter your skin tone. This will make your shopping much easier!

Do you know which season your are? I’d love to hear!

Beauty For the Heart~~”It is a joy to Jesus when a person takes time to walk more intimately with Him. The bearing of fruit is always shown in Scripture to be a visible result of an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.” - Oswald Chambers

Today I want to spend time with Jesus so that my life will bear fruit for Him!
