The Dog Days Of Summer Are Here

Today’s Tuesday so I wanted to remind  you to pray for Bennett. Someone on my Facebook page said, “Let’s storm heaven!” So today we’re storming heaven on behalf of Bennett! Thank you for your prayers!

Well, it’s finally gotten hot and humid in Kentucky. Which means I’ve pulled out the shorts and the flip flops.

I rarely wear flip flops except around the house but I recently went shopping and wore wedge heels, I shopped longer than expected and my feet started hurting. I grabbed these flip flops from Gap, they were $7.99 and I was desperate!! Have you ever had to do that?

Sometimes pictures don’t show the actual colors, I took this picture inside and it’s closest to the color of the shirt. I popped a yellow belt for fun. You don’t have to be matchy matchy all the time.

I love when you all send me pictures and share a little bit of your life with me. One of my readers, Sharon, sent me this picture of her sister, Mary. Sharon also sent me the bracelet I’m wearing in the above picture.

It’s a Stella & Dot Cady Wrap Bracelet and it’s gorgeous!! Thank you Sharon, I’ll be wearing it all the time! (The other bracelet I’m wearing is Stella & Dot Renegade Cluster Bracelet.)

Mary lives in Winchester, VA. She has two children ages, 4 and 11. She had surgery almost a year ago and has lost over 100 lbs! She’s now healthy, exercises daily and no longer has high blood pressure or diabetes! Way to go Mary, you look amazing!

Are you experiencing the dog days of summer?? Fall is right around the corner!

Beauty for the Heart~~Wayne and I are going to have a small group of couples meeting at our house on Sunday nights beginning in September. We’re going to be teaching through the book, Not A Fan. I’ve read it before but I’m looking forward to reading it again! We love sports so the analogy of Not a Fan appeals to us.

Here’s a quote from the book:

“It may seem that there are many followers of Jesus, but if they were honestly to define the relationship they have with him I am not sure it would be accurate to describe them as followers. It seems to me that there is a more suitable word to describe them. They are not followers of Jesus. They are fans of Jesus. Here is the most basic definition of fan in the dictionary: “An enthusiastic admirer” It’s the guy who goes to the football game with no shirt and a painted chest. He sits in the stands and cheers for his team. He’s got a signed jersey hanging on his wall at home and multiple bumper stickers on the back of his car. But he’s never in the game. He never breaks a sweat or takes a hard hit in the open field. He knows all about the players and can rattle off their latest stats, but he doesn’t know the players. He yells and cheers, but nothing is really required of him. There is no sacrifice he has to make. And the truth is, as excited as he seems, if the team he’s cheering for starts to let him down and has a few off seasons, his passion will wane pretty quickly. After several losing seasons you can expect him to jump off the fan wagon and begin cheering for some other team. He is an enthusiastic admirer.”

Are you a Fan or a Follower?

Have a blessed day!

Take An Outfit From Summer To Fall

I know it’s still summer but usually about this time of the year, I start transitioning some of my outfits to a more fall look. There’s nothing fancy about this outfit but it’s something I wear when I’m running errands. Here’s how I take an outfit from summer to fall.

Take An Outfit From Summer To Fall I’ve had this navy blue top from Old Navy for several years and you probably have something like it in your closet. As fall nears, instead of wearing it with white pants, I like to wear these green pants I recently purchased from The Limited.

Take An Outfit From Summer To Fall I obviously have no problem carrying a big handbag! I usually have my ipad in my purse so it’s nice to have something this size.

When do you start transitioning your outfits to fall?

Beauty For the Heart~~My heart is so heavy this morning for the family that lost their journalist son to a beheading by ISIS. Can you even imagine if that were your child?? Today would you join me in praying for this family and all those that are suffering in Iraq.

Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. I dwell with you as a foreigner, a stranger, as all my ancestors were. Psalm 39:12

Have a blessed day!

Simple Summer Series & A Giveaway!

Denim vests are cute and fun to wear. I purchased this denim jacket at Goodwill and then cut the sleeves off. Voila! I have a denim vest that cost me $5.00.

Simple Summer Series & A Giveaway!

It doesn’t get much simpler than a white t-shirt and shorts. I added accessories: denim vest, leopard print flats and some gold jewelry from Stella & Dot.

Take A Dress From Summer To Fall

Oh my! Thank you all so much for the sweet birthday messages yesterday. You made turning 48 a little easier! :-) I had a wonderful day!

One of the dresses I’ve loved wearing this summer is my chambray dress but with fall right around the corner, I thought I would show you how to take a dress from summer to fall.

Take A Dress From Summer To Fall

Summer is the perfect time for a sleeveless chambray dress. Paired with a cute sandal and you’re ready to go.

Take A Dress From Summer To Fall
I usually get cold when I’m inside in the air condition so I always have a denim jacket handy. I get emails asking whether you can wear denim on denim and the answer is YES!

When September rolls around the temperatures are still warm, but I like to transition to a fall look. It’s easy to do by adding a scarf and a pair of ankle boots.

One of the trends for fall is definitely the ankle boot. Have you tried styling the ankle boot?

Beauty For the Heart~~Yesterday as I kept getting Happy Birthday wishes, I kept thinking of what my Mom always said, “my cup runneth over.”  But I missed hearing my Mom’s voice yesterday. I wanted a call from my Mom. The pain of losing her will never go away but the memories I have with her are so so sweet.

In honor of Mom, I’ll share this poem that I’ve shared before:

I’ve never made a fortune
and it’s probably too late now.
But I don’t worry about that much,
I’m happy anyhow.

And as I go along life’s way,
I’m reaping better than I sowed.
I’m drinking from my saucer,
‘Cause my cup has overflowed.

I haven’t got a lot of riches,
and sometimes the going’s tough.
But I’ve got loved ones around me,
and that makes me rich enough.

I thank God for his blessings,
and the mercies He’s bestowed.
I’m drinking from my saucer,
’cause my cup has overflowed.

I remember times when things went wrong,
My faith wore somewhat thin.
But all at once the dark clouds broke,
and the sun peeped through again.

So God, help me not to gripe about
the tough rows that I’ve hoed.
I’m drinking from my saucer,
‘Cause my cup has overflowed.

If God gives me strength and courage,
when the way grows steep and rough.
I’ll not ask for other blessings,
I’m already blessed enough.

And may I never be too busy,
to help others bear their loads.
Then I’ll keep drinking from my saucer,
‘Cause my cup has overflowed. -Author unknown

Have a blessed day!

Summer Fashion-Why I Dress The Way I Do

Happy 1st day of August! I’ve had so much fun with you all over the last 31 days sharing summer fashion. To be honest, it felt weird not posting an outfit picture today.

31 Days of Summer Fashion

Here’s a recap of my 31 days of Summer Fashion. Some of the outfits I loved and some were just so-so.

31 days 3
31 days 2

31 days
31 days 4
A couple of you mentioned in your comments, you would like to see some more figure flattering pieces. I took note of that and will try to add more of those to my wardrobe. There’s always room for improvement!

I’m not a person that believes I have to cover myself head to toe. I don’t mind showing my legs, my arms, my knees, or my shoulders and I don’t have a problem wearing something that accentuates my waist.

But….I don’t show my cleavage or my stomach and I don’t wear skirts that are extremely short. There are certain things that are for my husband’s eyes only.

To be honest, when I see an older woman showing too much skin, I cringe. I don’t think it’s needed. You can look cute and classy and not show your breasts or your behind. That’s my opinion.

The one person that comes to my mind that dresses elegant and classy, and she’s much younger, is Kate Middleton. I wish I had her figure!

I love this quote:

46173_732074410169529_1579599483311341407_n

I hope that gives you some insight into how I like to dress. I always appreciate your honesty and your opinions.

I also wanted to share with you my new Pinterest board. It’s titled, “What To Wear Now & Into Fall.” I’d love for yo to follow along!

Have a blessed day!

Summer Fashion-Day 31!!!!

Well, it’s Day 31 of my 31 Days of Summer Fashion! Where did this month go? It’s been a fun month but I’m always ready for some change and I can’t wait to start gearing up for fall trends.

You would think I’d save the best for last but I’m actually sharing some outfits that I didn’t love. This dress is from Stitch Fix and I thought I liked it, but after taking pictures, I’m not in love with it. It’s a little snug.

I usually do 31 days in October so it looks like it’s going to be 31 days of fall and winter fashion. :-) Thank you all for being so kind and thank you for telling your friends and family about my blog. I’m glad there’s a need for fashion for women over 40!

Beauty For the Heart~~“But God doesn’t call us to be comfortable. He calls us to trust Him so completely that we are unafraid to put ourselves in situations where we will be in trouble if He doesn’t come through.” -Francis Chan
