What I Wore-Casual Summer Fashion

Happy Hump Day! I‘m so glad you stopped by. Today I’m sharing some very casual summer fashion.

It’s that time of the year, when I’m tired of all my summer clothes. Do you all get that way? I’ve worn everything over an over and I’m ready for something different.

I’ve also started another project at my house and it’s about to get the best of me! After going to the Haven Conference a few weeks ago and everyone raving about Annie Sloan chalk paint, I decided I had to try it.

What was I thinking? This is my unfinished dining room hutch. I’m not totally liking it yet and I may have to call in an expert, my sister Traci (please don’t tell her I called her that!). Here’s what it looks like today. I really want to get this finished by Friday!

Anyway, in between my paint clothes I wore these outfits. I’ve been so busy this week I only snapped two pictures. I love a white t-shirt with jeans but I like to dress it up a bit so I added a summer scarf and some silver jewelry.

I’ve bought several things this year from The Limited.

I’m trying to go through my closet and pull out things I haven’t worn all summer and wear them before it’s over. Maybe I’ll find some new outfits!

This is a great time to buy summer clothes! Have you found any great end of summer sales lately?

Favorite “PINS” Friday!

Good morning ladies! I’m in Atlanta, Georgia today at the Haven Conference. I’m trying to learn some more about this blogging thing!:-)

I am posting quite a few pictures on Instagram so if you’re on there, you can follow along. Stitch Fix has been kind enough to dress me for the conference and I’m loving all my outfits.

Here are some of my favorite “PINS” from this week~~they’re a mixture of summer and fall fashion.

What I Wore

Happy Hump Day! Boy, am I ready for some Fall “What I Wore” posts. I’m a little tired of my summer clothes. I’ve been organizing (my friend Becky would be very proud of me) my closet so I’m wearing several things I found in there and haven’t worn all summer. It seems to have a black theme but thankfully I saved myself and popped some color in the last picture.

I’ve had this zebra print collared shirt for several years. I think I purchased it at Stein Mart but it’s been so long I’m not sure. BTW, I never (obviously that’s not true, I had to once) shop at Stein Mart. Do any of you all?

Some of these pieces of clothing may be exiting my closet for good. I’m trying to only keep the things I wear and I’m  making room for my Fall clothes.

Are you all ready for Fall? Do you get tired of your clothes at the end of each season like I do?

Beauty For the Heart~~God has been nudging me lately to make sure I’m nurturing my friendships. Both my online friends and my real life friends.

Friendship is a gift and it takes time to build strong friendships. But as women, we need them. We don’t need to be so busy in our daily lives that we neglect spending time with other women.

So this week take some time to call a friend, have lunch or send a note. You’ll be blessed!

Friendship can weather most things and thrive in thin soil-but it needs a little mulch of letters and phone calls and small silly presents every so often-just to save it from drying out completely. -Pam Brown

Have a great day!

It’s What I Wore Day

Happy hump day friends! It’s Wednesday and that means it’s What I Wore. Taking pictures of yourself is not easy, especially when you’re over 40, ahem several years over 40 but it does help you to see things you like and don’t like about what you’re wearing.

If there’s one theme to my summer fashion, it’s sleeveless tops. It’s been very hot here in Kentucky so that’s pretty much all I want to wear.

I wore this to church on Sunday. I love all the bright colors!

Not Dead Yet Style!

Beauty for the Heart~~My husband texted me yesterday and said you’ve got to read Colossians 3 in the Message version of the Bible. He said, “it fits your blog perfectly!” Don’t you love a man that gets excited about scripture?

Here is Colossians 3:12-14So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.

How cool is that? Love is our basic, all-purpose garment and we should never be without it! Physical clothes will come and go but the wardrobe hand picked by Christ will last forever. Amen!

(I realize some of you reading my blog may not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, but if you are interested in knowing more you can email me at cyndispivey(at)gmail(dot)com. I’d love to share with you.)

What I Wore~Summer Sales

Happy Hump day! Yesterday I shared some fall fashion trends and today its back to summer with What I Wore.

This past weekend we were in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and I did some outlet shopping. We had a great time spending time with my husband’s family. It’s always interesting when you put 24 people in a chalet together. Let’s just say I think after 4 days we were all ready to head home!

Well, we did get to do some shopping, all summer clothing is on sale to get ready for fall/winter clothing so it’s a great time to snag some deals.

I purchased this black tank top at the Ann Taylor outlet. Can you ever have enough blank tank tops?

I also got these khaki capris at the Banana Republic outlet.

I’m definitely not going to win any fashion awards this week! I think I’m in a slump. It’s so hot and I don’t really feel like wear anything except tank tops! Maybe August will be better.

Have you shopped any of the summer sales?

Beauty For the Heart~~This morning as I was doing my devotion, I came across something my Mom had written in her Bible. Mom wrote in her Bibles as she studied scripture and I love seeing how God was speaking to her.

I was reading the scripture John 10:27, The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness.

Mom had written this in the margin, “Jesus came to give us a better life than we ever believed! Jesus’ life is the best possible way to live! We want to live a life that leads on, after us.”

I couldn’t help but smile and think how Mom’s life continues to impact me. Her walk with Christ not only changed her but continues to change me.

So today, I’m thinking, will my life lead others to Christ long after I’m gone? Will your life lead others to Christ?

What I Wore~White Capri Pants

Happy hump day! I’m definitely seeing a trend this summer with my white Capri pants! Their comfortable and cool so I’ve worn them a lot this summer.

It’s getting that time of the year, when I’m tired of all my summer clothes. I hate to say it, but I’m kind of ready to start Fall shopping. But first I’m going to hit some summer sales this weekend so I’m hoping to have something new to share with you next week.

One color that I have loved this summer is coral. Haven’t we all? It’s definitely been popular!

Coral top: JCPenney’s

White Capri’s: Banana Republic outlet

Polka dot top: TJ Maxx

Colorblocking top: JCPenney’s

Most of the week I’m in tank tops and Capri’s because the weather is sooooo hot! It’s been terrible here and I don’t think we’re going to get any breaks any time soon!

So, what are you wearing this summer? Do you start to get tired of your summer clothes?

Beauty For the Heart~~My devotion this morning reminded me that Jesus is near to me every moment of my day. That’s so comforting and I want to be more and more aware of His presence. I’m so glad we don’t go through our day alone!

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”  Hebrews 11:1
