Stitch Fix Box #4

Good morning! Today I’m sharing my latest Stitch Fix box with you. I feel like the Stitch Fix team have become my new best friends. They have certainly helped me add some different pieces to my wardrobe.

I love dresses and this box had 2 dresses in it. This first one is a Leroy Dot Print dress. It’s a fun print and I can’t wait to wear it!

Stitch Fix Box #4
This is a Ronda Floral Print Knit Dress. When I first saw this one I was leery if it would work. But after I tried it on, I liked it too!

Stitch Fix Box #4
I shared this Ohara Square Print Zip-up Cardigan with you last week on my What I Wore post. I will get lots of wear out of this cardigan.

Stitch Fix Box #4

They popped this sleeveless printed top in my box and I love it. It’s great for warm days!

Stitch Fix Box #4

Lastly, they added this delicate gold necklace. I usually wear chunky necklaces so I thought this would be a good addition to my jewelry collection.

Stitch Fix Box #4

I’ve shared this before, but I love how they include these plastic cards with each item of clothing. It gives you ideas of how to wear them.

Stitch Fix Box #4
This was the first box that I kept everything (I did have some credit thanks to you all!) and I’ve already wore three of the items. I wore the black & white cardigan last week and I’ll be sharing two more with you tomorrow on my What I Wore post.

It’s so much fun to get a Stitch Fix box! Have you tried Stitch Fix yet?

Beauty For the Heart~~I can’t begin to tell you how sad I am over the news in Boston. These evil acts are almost more than I can bare. I do know this, that as loving as God is, He is also a very just God and those who do these kinds of evil will be punished.

Proverbs 11:21 says, “Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free.”

Prayers for Boston!

5 Beauty Tips To Get Us Ready For Spring!

Although the weather has not started showing signs of spring here, I know warmer weather is right around the corner. So today I’m sharing 5 Beauty Tips To Get Us Ready For Spring.

5 Beauty Tips To Get Us Ready For Spring

1. Exfoliate-After a long, cold winter my body needs lots of exfoliating. I have a wonderful homemade exfoliant I’ve been using that a friend gave me. I’ll share the recipe with you soon.

2. Moisturize and hydrate-Do you suffer from dry skin? My hands, elbows, knees etc. need extra moisturizing this time of the year. I’m also trying to drink lots of water to help my skin look it’s best.

I’ve been using St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin as a body lotion and I really like it.

5 Beauty Tips To Get us ready for Spring!

3. Get a pedicure-Sandal weather will be here soon and nothing looks worse than putting them on with cracked heels and chipped polish. Now is the time to get those toes and feet looking good whether you have a pedicure or do your own.

4. Use a self-tanner-I’m not a fan of tanning beds and although I do love to get out in the sun, I limit my sun exposure. Self tanners are perfect for sundresses and shorts weather.

I’m using SUN LABORATORIES Self Tanning Lotion Tan Overnight – Medium

5 Beauty Tips To Get Us Ready For Spring!

5. Lighten up your makeup-One of the trends this spring is a more natural look so put away heavy foundations, dark lipsticks (women over 40 shouldn’t be wearing dark lipsticks anyway) and opt for lighter look. BB creams are still popular and I’m on the hunt for a  good one.

These are my 5 beauty tips to get us ready for spring, what do you do to prepare for spring weather?

Beauty For the Heart~~I read this last week and thought it was true, “Christians need to guard constantly against the tendancy toward complacency and indifference about our relationship with God.” We always need to strive to be more like Christ!

Have a blessed day!

I’m Talking About the “M” Word

I told myself I wouldn’t do it. I would never mention the “M” word on my blog. It’s personal, private, and although I know many women my age struggle with it, I didn’t want to discuss it here. (Be sure to read the end of my post to enter a Sweepstakes for a $100 Visa gift card!)

Poise Products

Well, I’ve changed my mind. Women can do that, right? I’m going to talk about menopause!

You probably remember having a 1st talk that explained your changing body as you were approaching puberty. But as we approach menopause, we’re hesitant to discuss this very normal life stage. I think we just don’t want to admit we’re getting older!

Thankfully, Poise has started The 2nd Talk campaign–to help make this life stage better for all women by giving them the confidence to talk about menopause in a whole new way and to better prepare them for this time in their lives.

If you’re over 40 you could be experiencing menopause symptoms. I know I’ve definitely experienced some menopausal symptoms: hot flashes, trouble sleeping, and mood swings (so my husband says!). If you’ve noticed some changes, you’ll be glad to know that Poise offers a unique line of daily products specifically designed for women who are going through this stage of life. I’m thankful there are products out there to make this transition easier. Here are some of the products they offer:

  • Roll-On Cooling Gel helps you feel comfortable and refreshed. Squeeze the tube and gently roll the cooling gel on wrists, chest or neck for a cooling sensation that lasts up to 10 minutes.
  • Body Cooling Towelettes offer instant cooling and refreshment. Gently wipe the towelette on wrists, chest or neck to feel cool and comfortable. Featuring a portable, re-sealable package, these towelettes are easy to use anywhere you go.
  • Feminine Wash provides daily freshness. Glycerin and paraben free, this gentle wash will help you feel clean and confident.

I tried the Roll-On Cooling Gel and it felt amazing! I rubbed it on my neck and chest. It’s refreshing and has a wonderful cooling sensation.

{Day 22} Nails: Fashion & Beauty For Women Over 40

I can’t believe we’re on Day 22 of my 31 days series of Fashion & Beauty for Women Over 40! It’s flying by! Today we’re going to talk about our nails, so hang on!

When I first read in Charla Krupps book, How Not To Look Old, that acrylic nails and dark nail polish makes you look old, I was shocked. But after several days of thinking about it, it kind of makes sense.

As we age, our hands age right along with the rest of our body. The point is, not to draw attention to the parts of our body that are aging. If you have long, young looking hands by all means wear dark nail polish and/or acrylic nails.

But if your hands are aging, try to go with a manicured short neutral nail (there seems to be a theme to the neutral look!).

I have short fingers and my hands have started to age. I’ve noticed when I wear dark nail polish my hands look shorter and stubby. Nail polish that is close to your skin color will elongate your hands.

So here’s the young and hip nail tips, according to Charla Krupp:

Shape: “Squoval” Not quite square and not quite oval, this is the flattering shape in between.

Length: Keep nails no longer than a quarter inch beyond your fingertips. I don’t know how women do anything with super long nails!

Color: Save your fun colors for your toes. On fingernails a pretty, sheer pink or beige will take you anywhere. Again, light colors elongate the look of your fingers.

The french manicure can be tricky if not done right (Krupp says acrylic nails can age you, I’m just telling you what she says, you don’t have to agree with her. She says you would have a hard time finding a salon that did acrylic nails in Manhattan, who knew?)

If you have to have acrylic nails, Deborah Lippmann, celebrity manicurist says, “the French manicure should be a soft white, not a stark white and the tip (white part) should be applied very thin. Nine times out of ten, it’s too thick, which makes it not chic.”

Also, no nail art, and avoid excessive glitter! (This makes you look like you’re trying too hard to look young!)

Well, what do you all think? Agree or disagree? I can’t wait to hear from you!

I love to chat on facebook, you can follow me on facebook here, I also love to add things to my pinterest boards and if you’d like to follow some of my pictures throughout the day, you can follow me on Instagram.

Beauty For the Heart~~Proverbs 31:10-13

A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.

Have a blessed day!
