26 Days of Fall Fashion (Day 18)

gray cardigan with leopard scarf 6It’s Day 18 of my 26 Days of Fall Fashion and today I’m styling a long open front cardigan. (If you’re tall, you can rock the long cardigan but if you’re petite, it’s a little harder. My tip if you’re petite is to add a comfortable wedge heel or boot to your outfit to elongate your body.)

I know I talk a lot about basic wardrobe pieces but I have learned over the years, having these pieces help to create outfits in your wardrobe.

These are the items I will spend a little more money on because I want them to last. Adding a trendy boot and some cute accessories help pull the outfit together.

grey cardigan 10I’m excited to share this designer leather satchel by Aimee Kestenberg. This handbag is the first-ever Aimee Kestenberg Today’s Special Value on QVC and it starts this morning.

gray cardigan with leopard scarf 1This fall it’s all about the utility trend and organization so this satchel is the perfect piece to add to your fall wardrobe.

Aimee hand designs and creates prints and patterns that bring the brand to life. This satchel has 4 compartments on the front, a quick accessible main entry, secure zip top flap and large back slip pocket. It has double handles and removable shoulder strap to give you two ways to wear this bag.

grey cardigan 7I love the organization in this satchel and it looks great with so many of my fall outfits.

grey cardigan 6If you didn’t want to wear a scarf, a long statement necklace would look great with this outfit too. I purchased this leopard print scarf from Target last year and it’s no longer in stock (similar here). It is my favorite scarf!

Beauty For the Heart~~Yesterday I skipped my Sunday post. I don’t usually do that but truthfully this has been a crazy busy month for us and I needed the rest.

Without going into a lot of detail we have been praying about something and we’re still seeking God’s guidance. There is a lot of “life” that goes on behind this computer screen and I feel like I’ve been on a dead run most of the month of September.

So today, let’s remember to rest. To enjoy the moments. We don’t have to DO everything, right? Exodus 33:14 says  “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Let’s rest in Him today!

  1. I am watching that bag right now on QVC!…knew it immediately when I saw your email and had to comment. You look great & love your style…I have that scarf from Target thanks to you!

  2. This is one of my favorite looks for your challenge , so far. Of course, you had me at animal print scarf. As a petite, I’ve been very wary of this length cardigan and am opting for a slightly shorter version. I love your styling of this and can see how it could work for me.

  3. I stopped into Cato over the weekend and the long cardigan’s were everywhere. Unfortunately I’m only 5’2″ so those cardigan’s hang down to my ankles!! Even if I wore a heel it would still almost cover me. They had some really pretty ones, too. I’m going to check petite departments and see if they have something that would hit me mid calf.

    Thanks for your blog!

  4. I love love love this outfit on you. You look amazing and I will wear this as well. I of course w/shorten the cardigan up b/c of my shortness…lol

  5. That’s what I always tell my husband, STOP trying to do everything for everyone…..I have no problem saying no because I know myself well and know that if I don’t set a healthy boundary I will run myself into the ground, and that doesn’t help anyone. God does want us to rest and take care of ourselves.

Love the boots! Love the outfit, I’m not one to feel comfortable in a long, flowing sweater 🙁 so I stick with a shorter style. My sister, who is 5’9″, could beautifully pull of the long style cardigan.

  6. I have that scarf too… a favorite!! love your look but I would have to do a shorter version of the cardigan since I am short. I love bags that have lots of pockets. The charcoal color is very pretty too. Glad you took yesterday off. hope you found rest 😉 God bless you Cyndi 😉

  7. I love long cardigans. I bought one I can’t wait to wear. I am thinking this Friday night for a high school football game will be perfect.
I know there is a lot going on behind your computer screen! My hubby and I are at a similar place in terms of seeking God’s guidance. (Senior Pastor here in the Indy area) Praying God will clarify for you His perfect will.
    You look great as always!

  8. This is one of my favorite fall outfits, also! Fortunately, I am 5’7″ with long legs, so the longer cardigans are something I can wear. I love handbags with outside pockets. Makes it very easy to have our car keys where we can access them very quickly. I will keep you and your husband in my prayers. Yes, we all need to “rest” more often. That’s why we love our home on a country dirt road, where tha pace of living is much slower. God bless!

  9. Beautiful as always, I am petite so I’m glad you acknowledge that some things may be a little harder to “rock!” 😉
Saying a prayer for you and the decisions you are making.
    xoxo

  10. You look beautiful as always Cyndi. I’ll have to check out the petite depts as well for shorter versions of the long cardi.
Praying for you and your family. ?

  11. I love this look. As usual it looks great on you! I haven’t found one yet that looks flattering on me. At only 5’3″ it has to be the right style, so I’ll keep looking.
    Have a great day

    1. I am in the same situation, Jeanette! At 5’3″ these cardigans just do not look attractive on me! Makes me look even shorter. Wish they made them in more petite sizes as I think they are really pretty!

  12. I hope you fine peace and rest. I know how issues can weigh on your heart and carry over to everyday life. I’ll be thinking of you and praying for you.
    Have a good day!

  13. I have a scarf similar which is so versatile . I prayed for your situation that God would open the doors that need to be open and shut the doors that need to be shut. I always enjoy reading your scripture references. I like the reminder of this one. I also like Matthew 11:28

  14. Love the outfit. That is my favorite style of cardigan, however I am 5’0″ so I go for the shorter ones. 🙂 I always love your daily encouragement posts …. rest in Him!

  15. Hi Cyndi! Love the look, I’m petite so not sure if I would buy a long cardigan…however, how did you tie your scarf?

Could you do a tutorial or photo?

Really enjoying the 26 days of Fall outfits.

    Christine

  16. You definitely nailed this outfit, Cyndi!! Looks great! (I have that scarf and it is by far, my favorite as well. My co-worker has it too.)

  17. I love this look. I always feel so ‘comfy’ in sweaters like this, although at 5’3″, I have to watch the proportions as well!
Praying for God’s guidance for you!

  18. like this outfit, and you are right, as I am only 5’2 and have trouble with the longer sweaters – heels are a must. I know what you mean about taking time – my daughter and son-in-law were at my house yesterday – for a LONG time. Almost the entire day I was running down my list of to-do’s and how I wasn’t getting anything done. Then it hit me, yes, I was getting something done – I was spending time with the most important people in my life :-). Once I realized that, I let the list in my head go and had a great day.

  19. I have several long cardigans and enjoy wearing them. However, it wasn’t the styling that posed a problem for me but learning to sit in them (I have a rolling chair at work)! Enjoying the series tremendously.

  20. it’s sometime hard to rest when you feel like the whole world needs you. rest in the lord . I will be praying for you .
Now to the outfit it is super cute. I love these long sweaters i have a new one that i was saving for the fall but my daughter got to it first . Man she is a little smaller than me but taller . going to have to hide my sweaters .

    Blessing

  21. Hey Cyndi,
The outfit looks good on you. Can’t believe it is that cool in Kentucky. Here in the Carolinas it was damp and dreary but not quite ready for boots and sweaters. I think this been a long September. Maybe I’m rushing it away because in October I’ll be 52 and my daughter will be 22. It will also be Homecoming at my college almamata.

  22. Love the outfit and colors. I am , like another reader, 5 feet three inches. A long cardigan will not work on my frame. It is still hot here in Alabama, along the coast. I just want long sleeve weather! I am older than you…pray for God to calm your life and give you the time you need. He does amazing work!!

  23. It might be a challenging fashion season for us shorties! Love the look on you. Rest and recharge. Thank you for all you do!

  24. Cyndi, have really enjoyed finding and reading your blog everyday. Love your styles!! Please, please tell us how to tie this scarf?!

    1. I bought that exact same scarf from Target last year and it is one of my favorites! Love how you tied it – please share!

  25. I love the outfit in general but think the cardigan is too long in the front. I like the length of the back. Love the colors!

  26. Love this outfit! Makes me glad I am tall! I clicked the link to this year’s Target scarf and am happy to see it is similar to one I bought a couple of years ago at WHBM that needs to be replaced. I have worn it so much!

  27. I love the look where did you get that cardigan. O can’t ever find the long one. The bag is perfect all the compartments. The style is classic, comfortable and candies go anywhere. I just love it
