31 Days of Winter Fashion-Day 14

It’s Day 14 of my 31 Days of Winter Fashion and today I’m trying to help with the winter blahs by adding color!

I have to say that I’m sooooo thankful I was able to get my hair cut and colored yesterday. I was past due and honestly I thought I was going to have to stop taking pictures. It was getting bad. 🙂

Anyway, winter can be blah. I’m not a huge fan of cold and dark weather. Wayne and I try to get out at night because neither one of us like to sit for very long.

We laugh about our date nights because a lot of the time we’re visiting someone at home or in the hospital. It’s a part of ministry but we both love it. After our visits we’ll go out to dinner or do some shopping.

When our children were young, I wasn’t able to go with Wayne but now that we’re empty nester’s I get to go make visits with him. I miss my children being home but I also love this season of our marriage.

Okay, back to my outfit. I decided to pop some color to help with the winter blahs. I’ve been eyeing this wrap cardigan for a while.

I’ve seen it on several people in tan but I already have a tan cape so I needed a different color. I decided to go with coral spice!

Let me just say, this wrap is so soft and comfortable and warm. I love it!

Next let’s talk jeans. Remember when I mentioned the Nordstrom jeans that Pinterest Told Me To said were amazing?? Well, I’m wearing them and she was right. They are amazing!

They’re soft and stretchy but they don’t stretch and become bigger by the end of the day. Crazy! You’ll probably see them on me a lot. For reference, I’m wearing a size 6. They have all sizes in right now.

Now for the coat. Because my wrap is long, I don’t want to wear a short coat because the wrap would hang out. I’m wearing a blue Andrew Marc coat that I received in a Stitch Fix box. It’s a great length for this top.

Beauty For the Heart~~There’s a war going on, and I’m not talking about something you hear on television. I’m talking about the war between our spirit and our sinful nature.

As christians we want to look like Christ. We want to be filled with love, joy and peace, patience, self-control, gentleness, faithfulness, kindness and goodness. (Galatians 5:22)

Praying we will be filled with these today!

  1. Just started following and I really like your blog. I enjoy adding orange or turqoise in the winter. Guess I wear these colors about all year in some fashion .

  2. You look fabulous, as always! Love the color on you! 🙂
Thank you for inspiring with your uplifting spiritual thoughts every day! I look forward to it!

  3. Love reading your daily blog..Many days you say just the right things and it helps me stay on track as a busy working gal! Anyway, I wanted to order those skinny jeans from Norstrom…they are so cute!! Do you usually wear a size 6 .? Or did you order up or down….any input on that would be helpful!!! By the way, the sal on pink wrap top is a great color for you !! I wear that color frequently as I have same complexion as you!!! Thanks!

    1. Pam I usually wear a 6 or an 8. I wear more 6’s and they said to order down a size. I knew I couldn’t wear a 4 so I went with the 6 and they fit perfect.
I wear a 6 at LOFT if that helps you at all.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

      1. Cyndi, how tall are you? I am 5’3 and wondering if they will be too long. I don’t think they have petite.

        1. Hey Marianne,
I’m 5’6″ I’m not sure if it would be too long on you or not. I want to say it wouldn’t but if you get it and it is too long, I’d feel bad! 🙂
          Blessings,
          Cyndi

  4. Love it! It all looks so cute on you. The color of the wrap is great for these gray dreary winter days. It’s a real pick me up. Thanks Cyndi for the inspiration!

  5. I would love some style ideas of what to wear on an upcoming trip to Miami! I’m turning 50 (YIKES) this Friday so I’m flying out on the tail end of a business trip for my husband to celebrate! 🙂 EXCITED to get out of the midwest freezer! I am about the same size as you (6) and with turning 50, I have NO idea what to pack on this trip! The style in Miami and my style aren’t even close….can you help me??

    1. Denise, I have this kind of post on my to do list, but I haven’t done it yet!! So sorry!!
Have fun and use some self tanner before you go!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  6. I’m so glad you said you wear a long coat with a long wrap. I had my husband buy me a long winter coat last year for Christmas because I hated having my wraps stick out from my waist coats. He thought I should just cram it up under my short coat…oh, silly men. 😉

  7. Hi from Oklahoma. I have been enjoying your blog for about a year now. I never thought I would post or ask a question but I love your hair color. I am a hairdresser and always looking for that perfect color for my hair, and perhaps yours is it. I also have an olive complexion and dark brown eyes, what color does your stylish use on you? Thank you for your openness about your thoughts on style, family and faith.
    God bless your 2015

    1. I would be interested in this info too! I have worn my hair highlighted for years but as I’m getting “older” I sometimes wonder if I should go a bit darker. Not sure if I could go quite this dark but I love it. Please share your hair color info, Cyndi!

      1. Hey Liz,
Here’s the color–1/2 4N and 1/2 5NA. She added a gloss at the end that was Goldwell Clear to help with shine.
        I hope that helps!!!
        Blessings,
        Cyndi

    2. Hey Gina,
Here’s the color–1/2 4N and 1/2 5NA. She added a gloss at the end that was Goldwell Clear to help with shine.
      I hope that helps!!!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

  8. Beautiful!!! I’ve had my eye on that Nordstrom wrap for a while and LOVE that coral spice color. If you don’t mind me asking, what size did you order? I’m trying to decide if I should order an xs or small. I’m usually an xs at Loft, but I do have a few tops that are a small.

    1. Karen I’m wearing a size small. I usually wear a small at LOFT too but sometimes I could probably wear an xsmall.
      I’m not much help! Ha!
      Blessings,
      Cyndi

      1. No, you are helpful! If you are usually a small at Loft, but sometimes an xs and bought a small in the Nordstrom wrap, then I think I will try the extra small since I’m the opposite. I’m usually an extra small, but sometimes go with a small. If I look half as nice in one as you do, I will be happy!

  9. This is one of my favorite outfits so far! The color is great. Thanks for adding inspirational thoughts along with your fashion posts. I really enjoy reading them! I appreciate you reminding us of the seasons in our lives and that we need to find ways to enjoy the different phases.

  10. Cyndi, that colour looks fabulous on you and your hair looks amazing, I guess you could say a perfect look.
    Bless you
    Nicky x

  11. Very pretty color combination and the Andrew Marc coat looks fabulous with your wrap! I do add pops of color this time of year, just can’t help myself! I’ve noticed that the fashions in the stores are beginning to lighten and brighten up as well. I think this time of year we all need a lift-me-up with the hope of renewal that Spring will be here soon! I appreciated Beauty for the Heart today. While I was getting dressed this morning your post made me think about the importance of putting on the full of armor of God before I go out to meet my spiritual battle! Thank you!

  12. The pop of color looks good with your new haircut/color! I always feel my prettiest after a cut and color…the little things, right? I like to wear red and pink together when the dreary gray skies of winter bother me…the colors make me happy. :). Blessings

  13. I too like to add color to my wardrobe in the winter. I do have a question about colored pants. I have ordered a pair of teal corduroy pants and need some ideas of what to wear with them other that gray, brown, tan, and black. Any suggestions?

  14. I LOVE that wrap!! It is such a pretty color! I am pretty busty, so I’m afraid that would look like a tent if I were to try it, but I am going to have to find something in that color asap!

  15. HI Cyndi, You look fantastic in that color! I finally bit the bullet and ordered the wit and wisdom jeans. I’ve been watching everyone go on and on about them so I thought i better buy a pair. I bought my normal size, so i hope that i don’t regret it and have to return. I have that wrap already in white and blue stripe, bought it 2 years ago from Nordstrom, so the flurry around them makes me smile. I also finally bought that “must have” shirt from pinterest made me do it as well. I’ll let you know if it’s as fabulous as everyone says it is…love your blog.

  16. Girl you look like a million bucks today! I actually found that wrap in gray at Marshall’s last week but I look better in brighter colors so I
just ordered the coral. Love love the Wit and Wisdom jeggins too! Thank you for those tips!

    1. Sharon, how about sizing on those jeans. I just cancelled my order b/c i kept reading others say order down a size, what did you do?

      1. Amy I did size down. I’m 5’2 and usually wear a 4 but ordered a 2 and I’m so glad! The fabric is really giving but they have not stretched out and become baggie like some denim tends to do. I have short legs so they are long but I’ll roll them up with booties and flats. Hope this helps!

        1. Amy, I am 5’6″. I ordered a 4. The first time I wore them they did not stretch. I did not wash them before wearing like the tag says. ( shhh!) After washing them for the first time, I hung them to dry after fluffing Inthe dryer on low for a minute or two. They dried with wrinkles so I ironed the wrinkles out on the steam setting of my iron. The jeans did stretch after I wore them for a couple of hours. I was wishing that I had ordered a 2. I do have a flat bottom so all jeans and pants sag on me a bit, but these really felt big after stretching. I will skip the ironing next time to see if that helps to keep them from stretching. Hope this helps.

  17. I just started following your blog a few months ago and love it! I love this outfit, that color looks so pretty on you. I’ve seen that cardigan on several other blogs, I think I’m going to have to order one now 🙂

  18. Love your outfit! Perfect shade of pink for you. I would love to try the Wit and Wisdom jeans, but they don’t come in petite size…! Love your blog..it’s short and sweet and always helpful to those of us looking for fashion inspiration!

  19. Love it all! Question about the coat.. I’ve been shopping for a coat that wold cover my longer shirts, and my backside

      1. Yes it is a little heavy feeling. I hadn’t noticed until you asked me, but it doesn’t bother me. If that makes sense!
        Blessings,
        Cyndi

  20. I loved this wrap so much, I went to Nordstrom’s today and bought the coral wrap for $39.99. Since I live in south FL, I will have to wait for our next “cold snap” to wear it! Thank you Cyndi for your blog!

  21. Your hair looks great, but then it always does! Cute outfit, the color looks gorgeous on you! Have a great night 🙂

  22. I’ve been enjoying your website for quite a while and this is my favorite outfit on you! You always look great but something about the coral color looks amazing on you!!

  23. I’ve looked at that wrap a few times on the Nordy site and it just looked off in their pictures. It looks a bazillion times better on you! They need your picture on the website.

  24. Looks great Cyndi. I ordered that wrap too in the same color…. By the way, I wore the black/ grey wrap you posted the other day from Nordstroms today at Bible study. I got so many compliments on it 🙂 And your haircut/color looks great! thanks for giving us your input with your sizes… good reference point. God bless 😉

  25. Thank you so much for sharing a link to the jacket you received from stitch fix. I always like it when you give us the name of the item you received from stitch fix so we can request if we are stitch fix customers or try to find online. Thanks!

  26. Cyndi,
Thank you for the tip! I just ordered the exact same color and size Nordstrom wrap. I think the wrap looks much better on you than the actual model. I hope I love it as much as you do!
    Thank you!
    Julie H.

  27. So I just have to say I rarely will buy things that bloggers showcase on their blogs, but I had to order this wrap! I got it in turquoise and it’s just LOVELY! I am busty and I think it looks great on me. Besides that it’s the softest thing ever and the way it feels is incomparable. I took it out of the box and had to wear it right away! Looks great with a long tank and leggings and boots if you’re going casual (I’m 35 but I like your blog anyway ;). I ordered another one in black because I loved it so much! Nordstroms has free shipping and free returns so…why not right?

  28. I just loved this on you, so I went to Nordstrom’s and purchased it 🙁 Why does it look so different on me. I’m guessing it’s because I’m 5’3″. It just looks terrible. I’m going to try it on another day…maybe it’s just my mood.
