Black Trench Coat-Fashion Staple

Well, January is rolling by and we have had a mild one here in Kentucky. It’s been dark and dreary with a lot of rain. I have been wearing my new black trench coat almost everyday!

One thing we talk about around here are fashion staples that are worn year after year. My black trench coat is that piece and I have worn it this winter but I will also wear in the spring and fall.

Fashion blogger, Cyndi Spivey, styling a black trench coat from Macy's.I wore this outfit to church yesterday. My gray sweater is from Banana Republic and is unfortunately sold out. There are a few sizes left! I have to say I’m a huge fan of the flutter sleeves so you’ll probably see them on me a lot this spring.

My earrings are from White House Black Market. I love this style and purchased them in both silver and gold.

  1. The trench may be nice, Cyndi, but let’s talk about those wonderful sleeves on that sweater!! They really stand out and create so much interest!!
I may have to buy a sweater like this for my mom—I know she probably wouldn’t think it’d be functional—but sometimes fun is good too!

  2. I am a fan of the sweater too! The sleeves are TDF! I love trench coats – I use to have a red one. You look fab in the sweater & coat – love those earrings too! I love WHBM too since they have a petite section. Hope you see sunshine soon. It cleared here in Central Mississippi but turned cool . Crazy weather!

  3. This outfit looks great on you! I love the black trench coat, just might have to have this! I really loved Beauty for the Heart today, I think we all need to be reminded to keep our lips sealed and eyes on God! Have a beautiful and blessed day!😊

  4. Great Look Cyndi !!! You are definitely rockin’ the sweater. I just purchased a black all weather coat at Belk right after Christmas. We have had some rain in N.C. as well and my coat has been excellent with our weather. ~Lisa~

  5. The verse you shared today is so appropriate as our Christianity seems to be attacked from all sides. Thank you for sharing this powerful verse today.

  6. Love this look on you, so beautiful and feminine. And the black against the grey, perfect contrast. The sleeves are so graceful. The verse you chose today is also a perfect reminder, as women it’s so easy to get caught up in careless banter and gossip. Thank you for your gentle reminder.

  7. So pretty and feminine, love the sweater, and the delicate necklaces and earrings are perfect to keep the softness going. I like the black trench too – such a great staple to have.
The verse today is spot on! Thank you for sharing.

  8. Cyndi, The trench coat is nice, but I LOVE the sweater. If I had a need for numerous sweaters, I would want this one in my closet.

Fortunately, the storms have moved out of GA, but it is a cold and wet Monday. Praying for our neighbors east of us that had massive tornadoes, damage, and deaths!

  9. I have the black trench coat from Macy’s .. I think buying it in the color that goes with most of your wardrobe is a good choice. Love the beauty of the heart today…We just need to love on each other Amen

  10. Love the cute sweater……what pretty sleeves. I’ve always liked the trench coat look although I’ve never owned one. Hopefully I can purchase one soon.

    Have a great Monday!

  11. Very cute outfit and definitely something I would wear to work. I want to go try on those pants since they come in petite but the coat doesn’t 😟
Thank you for sharing and have a great day!

  12. Very stylish coat! I have a black trench coat and I love it and have had for years. Mine has a hood as sometimes when it is raining I would rather put the hood up then carry umbrella. You looked very nice.

  13. I think you look so pretty in the post today — love the classy outfit… p.s. I think the way you are wearing your hair is perfect with this outfit…

  14. I love this outfit on you – that sweater is great! I live in so cal so rarely have need of a super warm coat. I have 3 trench coats. A longer deep purple, a slightly shorter light blue and then a navy. I seem to go more for the purple or light blue, especially when it’s rainy to add some fun.

  15. You look so chic in this outfit!! I have this same coat which I bought at Nordstrom Rack. Do you have a Nordstrom Rack near you? Generally I can save some money there too. Have a good week! Julie L

  16. Do you actually purchase all of the garments you model and if so you must have a huge closet……. Thank you so much for all the inspiration and words of faith you share with us. It makes a difference.

  17. Hi Cyndi,
Such a cute outfit. I love the sweater. I had my eye on it a while back and forgot about it. I am really liking the sleeve interest this season. Thinking I might need a black trench, too. Thanks for all the inspiration

  18. Hi, I love your cute little trench coat. I have a black and tan one that is a bit longer and covers down below the buttocks… and I’ve not really worn heels with it yet. Thank you for this idea. Yes, here in south eastern KY it has rained cats and dogs for several weeks now. and I have loved wearing my trench coat, but have had to wear boots for the water and mud. But I’ll keep in mind to pair it with heals as soon as I can. Our oldest is graduating police academy in a couple weeks and I was thinking of wearing a dress with my red heels. What would you recommend to wear to a function like this?
