Come To Me – Beauty For the Heart

Come-To-Me-Beauty-For-the-Heart As I was thinking of scripture today this is the one that kept popping in my head.  Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Scripture reminds us that there is someone we can give our burdens to, someone who can help us if we are weary today. He can give us rest.

His name is Jesus and he says, come to me.

Anyone feeling a little weary? Anyone have a burden? Do you need rest?

If you’re feeling weary and burdened this song is a good reminder to be still. Seasons come and go but he has NEVER left.

Be still my heart and know
Letting all my weakness show
He provides a place for me to go
He lifts me off the ground

Quiet down and rest
He restores my hope again
I lift my eyes and look to Him
He lifts me off the ground

So open up my heart and trust
Open up my eyes to see
That He who place the sun, the moon, and stars
Is here with me

Stop your striving now
Heaven’s peace is all around
Say His name and my walls come down
He lifts me off the ground

So open up my heart and trust
Open up my eyes to see
That He who place the sun, the moon, and stars
Is here with me

I’m not alone
You’re with me every step
Seasons come and go
But You have never left

Have a blessed Sunday!

  1. I can’t begin to tell you how fitting your blog post was today. I was in service this morning and we were singing and the tears were flowing. I excused myself and went to sit quietly and pray, actually journal, and this was the verse God brought to me as I am in a season of burdens. Reading your blog just affirmed to me that God wants me to find rest in Him and Him alone…thank you!

  2. Thank for this devotional. I am struggling with aging parents … So many things come up that I don’t know how to handle. I work full time ….have three children…. And just don’t know how I can do it all. I figure Trust God and am trying to Cast my care on Him for he cares for me

    1. Rhonda, I too am struggling with caring for my 90-year-old mother who has mid-stage Alzheimer’s and has lived alone to this point. I am a single mother of one adult child who had her first baby this year and they have both had many health issues this year. I work three jobs and take care of my mother by myself, and lately it has started to feel like more than I can handle. Somehow God keeps carrying me through each day, and I am seeking His guidance in making decisions for my mother, but I never feel I am doing enough, doing it “right,” etc. I will pray for you as we walk this road together.

I had an epiphany during worship service the last Sunday of Advent, which was that I need to stop praying for God to change all the situations in my life that trouble me (family health issues, finances, work stress, etc) and start praying for Him to change ME. I have been doing this since December and although it’s a small shift in my mindset, it is making big changes in how I am handling these challenges. Hope that helps!

  3. Cyndi,
Love your daily sharing. Glad you enjoyed Dallas. I was born there, we raised our children there. A few years ago we moved about 80 miles southeast of Dallas, living our retirement in a more rural setting. Come back to see us!

  4. What a beautiful song. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Glad you got home safe and sound.

Love the Magnolia shirt-do you know if it’s available somewhere on line? I went to Magnolia Market’s website but don’t see it featured.

  5. Sometimes just the day-to-day gets wearisome…..this is when I know I need to ask God what’s going on and why I’m feeling this way……I know there must be something He want’s me to see, know, or do.

  6. HI Cyndi,
As a missionary and pastors wife, I can relate… and really do love to find time, when I can sit and quietly pour my heart out to the Lord in prayer… I do need rest some time and I always need to be reminded of how much God is there to take my problems away and give me rest in HIM.
” Hear the blessed Savior calling the oppressed,
    “Oh, ye heavy-laden, come to Me and rest;
Come, no longer tarry, I your load will bear,
Bring Me every burden, bring Me every care.”

  7. I just have to say something …..I am also a pastors wife and I have followed your blog for a few years now and I just want to tell you how I appreciate how open you are with presenting God in it and how I love every outfit you wear(they are just my style also) with a few exceptions of items just not for me, of course. I am eager to see pix of more outfits …. My hubby and I will be celebrating our 29th Ann. this April… and I am already planning our 30th with a road trip to two special places(Charleston, SC. and Savannah, GA.)-yet close to home base here in S.E. KY. We once lived in Italy and I’ve heard that both places have a similar beauty as Italy. I’m gathering some outfit ideas in my online folder and hope to see some beautiful outfits that I like from your Spring collection.

  8. Matthew 11:28-30 MSG is one of my favorites. I have it on my desk at work so I can see it every day.
““Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.””

  9. Never heard this artist before, and very much enjoy this song. Thanks for sharing. I also enjoy getting your emails daily along with scripture. What a wonderful way to share scripture with women.

  10. Listened to this song one time and had to have it. BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for sharing. Also, thank you for sharing your tri[ with us. I live in Louisiana and plan to stay at their new BB this spring. Woohoo!!!!!

  11. This is what I enjoy most about your blog. You remind us of His love & what should be in the forefront of our lives. It’s so easy to get caught up on all this fashion, the great boots, the perfect scarf, or the best face cream. All these beautiful things we enjoy are only to make this world He created, more beautiful. Thank you for bringing God’s word to women & accessorizing it like you do 😉
