New Fall Arrivals at LOFT: 7 Wearable Fall Outfits for Women Over 50

Fall fashion is starting to arrive, and I couldn’t resist trying on some of the new fall arrivals at LOFT! LOFT has 44% off your purchase plus an extra 22% off. Labor Day weekend is a great time to shop the sales. Even though it’s still warm outside, seeing those rich fall colors, cozy sweaters, pretty prints, and new denim makes me ready for a change of season.

One thing you’ll notice throughout these outfits is the color palette. Burgundy, plum, navy, soft blue, gray, and cream are everywhere for fall, and I love how sophisticated these shades look together. There are also some great pieces that will help transition your wardrobe from the warmer days of September into cooler fall weather.

Burgundy Plaid Shirt + Wide-Leg Jeans

Burgundy Plaid Shirt (XS) | Wide Leg Denim (4) | Brown Flat | Earrings | Cross Necklace | Necklace

Let’s start with an outfit that is about as easy and wearable as it gets.

This burgundy plaid button-down shirt is such a good early fall piece. Plaid is certainly nothing new for fall, but I like that this one feels a little more polished than your typical flannel shirt. The burgundy, navy, and white color combination is classic, and the fitted shape keeps it feminine.

I paired it with dark-wash wide-leg jeans from Target, which you’ll see several times in this post. These are the viral jeans that everyone is wearing, and they’re on sale for $19.60!

This is the kind of outfit I’d wear for running errands, lunch with a friend, or a casual fall day when I want to look pulled together without trying too hard.

Add a Burgundy Jacket

Cropped Jacket (small) | Burgundy Plaid Shirt (XS) | Wide Leg Denim (4) | Brown Flat | Earrings | Cross Necklace | Necklace

Here’s the same plaid shirt and jeans with one simple addition: a cropped burgundy jacket. The rich wine color coordinates with the plaid shirt, so the outfit looks intentional without being too matchy-matchy.

This cropped burgundy jacket is such a cute layering piece for fall. This jacket would also be cute over a simple white or cream tee, with black pants, or even over a casual dress. Pieces that can work several different ways in my closet always get bonus points!

Striped Rugby Sweater + Dark-Wash Denim

Striped Rugby Sweater (XS) | Wide Leg Denim (4) | Brown Flat | Earrings | Cross Necklace | Necklace

Stripes are having a big moment, and I love this preppy take on the trend.

The burgundy and soft pink striped rugby-style sweater has that classic, slightly sporty look that feels fresh again this fall. The contrasting cream collar with scallop detail is such a cute detail and brightens everything up around the face.

I did a slight front tuck and added a belt to give the outfit a little more shape. Again, those small styling details can really help when you’re wearing a wider-leg pant.

Pair this sweater with jeans and loafers or sneakers for an easy everyday outfit, or dress it up slightly with a trouser and ballet flat.

Burgundy Short-Sleeve Cardigan

Short Sleeve Cardigan (XS) | Wide Leg Denim (4) | Snake Multi Flat | Earrings | Cross Necklace | Necklace

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know how much I love a good cardigan, and this short-sleeve burgundy cardigan is perfect for transitional weather.

I wore it buttoned as a top with the same dark-wash wide-leg jeans. This is another easy way to make a cardigan feel more current. Burgundy is one of those colors that instantly says fall, but it’s also incredibly flattering and easy to pair with denim, camel, cream, gray, and navy.

Animal print is popping up everywhere this fall, so I added a pair of Steve Madden mules to the outfit. The subtle animal print adds just enough interest without competing with the outfit.

A Feminine Fall Dress

Fall Dress (XS) | Slingback Heel | Earrings | Cross Necklace | Necklace

This burgundy printed fall dress is such a pretty option for those in-between days when the calendar says fall but the weather hasn’t gotten the memo.

The long sleeves balance the shorter hemline, and I love the feminine shape and ruffle detail at the bottom. I styled it simply with neutral pointed-toe heels, but there are so many ways you could take this dress further into fall.

Once temperatures drop, add tall brown boots or booties. A denim jacket would make it more casual, while a blazer could dress it up for church, dinner, or an event.

Blue Floral Blouse + Wide-Leg Jeans

Floral Blouse (XS) | Wide Leg Denim (4) | Wedge Mule | Earrings | Cross Necklace | Necklace

This soft blue floral blouse is a beautiful way to transition into the new season while still keeping things light. The print is feminine, and I love the subtle puff sleeve. The blouse is very lightweight and perfect for hot weather.

I paired it with the dark-wash wide-leg jeans and added a belt and neutral pointed-toe shoes.

Gray Cardigan + Navy Pinstripe Wide-Leg Pants

Cardigan (XS) | Wide Leg Trousers (2) | Sling Back Heel | Earrings | Cross Necklace | Necklace

The gray cardigan and navy pinstripe wide-leg pants give us that menswear-inspired look we’re seeing for fall, but the overall outfit still feels feminine.

These trousers are such a fun alternative to jeans. The vertical pinstripe helps create a long line, and the wide-leg silhouette gives them a modern feel. They run big, so definitely size down.

I paired them with a simple gray cardigan and pointed-toe shoes.

You could easily wear these pants with a crisp white button-down, a fitted sweater, or a blazer. For something more casual, try them with a white tee and sneakers.

I’m especially loving all the burgundy for the fall season. It feels rich and sophisticated, and it pairs beautifully with the navy and denim many of us already have in our closets.

There is so much comfort packed into this one simple promise. Not might. Not maybe. The Lord will.

So often we look at our lives and see loose ends, unfinished dreams, unanswered prayers, and areas where we still feel weak or behind. But God sees the whole picture. What concerns you today is not overlooked by Him. What feels incomplete to you is still under His loving hand.

I’m reminded that growth takes time. And the same God who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it. You don’t have to strive, compare, or fear falling short. Your job is to trust and obey.

Rest today in this truth: God is not done with you. He is working, quietly, intentionally, and perfectly, on every detail of your life. And what He does, He does well.

Let your beauty shine from the inside out today!

  1. Thanks for the reminder about Loft Cyndi! I have a $15 off code to use since it’s my birthday this Sunday. Just ordered a couple summer to fall transition tops for less than $21 plus free shipping. Can’t beat that. We have a fun weekend planned too! Happy birthday to your dad!

  2. Everything looks good on you. I have their burgundy jacket from last year. This one is similar but I like mine better. Burgundy is my favorite color for fall and winter. I like the gray cardigan too.

  3. Hi Cyndi, can you please link the arm bands you use for holding up long sleeved sweater sleeves? I can’t locate it on your site. Thanks!
