Summer Try-On Session

Happy hump day! Today I’m sharing a summer try-on session (except for one outfit). These are a few pieces I think will work if our weather ever gets hot. We have had such a cold spring.

This weekend is supposed to be much warmer, so hopefully, I can wear some of these clothes! (I get asked about my iPhone case, and you can find it here.)

First, I’m wearing a lounge tee with a pair of jeans from Chico’s. This is something I will wear when I’m running errands. It’s casual and comfortable, and I love the tassel hemline on my jeans.

This lounge tee hangs long in the back.

I’m a huge fan of the Scoop brand at Walmart. This jumpsuit is so comfortable. It’s made from a polyester and spandex, so it doesn’t wrinkle. This will be so fun to wear out to dinner this summer.

I didn’t realize my phone was covering the spaghetti strap, but I’m wearing a regular bra, and I’ll need to wear my strapless bra with this jumpsuit.

A denim jacket will look cute too.

This dress is my favorite of everything I tried on! It’s perfect for a hot summer day with a pair of sandals, and I love that it has side pockets. If you’re looking for an option for shorts, this dress is a winner.

Kimono Short Sleeve Smocked Waist Dress (I’m wearing a size6)//Nude Sandals (makeup color)//Earrings//Bracelet//Bracelet//Ring

I like this dress too, and I added a heel for a dressier look. The twist front accentuates the waistline, but it also emphasizes your bust area, so if you’re busty, you might not like this one, although it doesn’t have a v-neck, so it’s not going to show anything.

Short-Sleeve Twist Front Fit and Flare Dress (I’m wearing a size 6)//Slide Sandals (TTS)//Earrings//Bracelet//Bracelet//Ring

Okay, this one is not for summer, but it’s what I wore lately because our weather has been cold. This is a lightweight sweatshirt, and it’s perfect for a chilly spring day.

Knit Rib Blouson-Sleeve Sweatshirt (I’m wearing a small)//Kut From the Kloth Jeans (I’m wearing a size 4)//Ugg Sneakers (here and here)//Silver Earrings//Ring//Watch Band

I love maxi dresses, and this knit sweaterdress is lightweight and very soft.

Lastly, I’m a fan of short pajamas, and these come in several patterns and this pretty lilac color.

  1. I love that self-tanner! It’s the best I have ever used. Thank you for suggesting it because I would have never known about it. It’s very easy to apply and natural looking. Plus, it doesn’t come off on white towels or sheets like others do.

  2. These are all so cute. Being 5’2″ maxi dresses don’t look good on me. I really like your style and wish I could buy them all. I also use the self tanner you recommended. It’s the best one I’ve tried and not expensive. Some of the expensive ones have a terrible smell. There was a man sitting behind us at church and I heard him tell his wife something smelled funny. I knew it was me, but I didn’t say a word. Lesson learned! lol

  3. Lots of cute outfits. We are having some nice warm days here in Colorado. I actually could wear short yesterday. I like the Walmart jumpsuit. It would have been helpful to see the top of the outfit (phone covered one Side and long beautiful hair the other side). Love the fringe on the Chico pants.

      1. Cyndi,
Can you describe exactly how you use the self tanner? I have never tried one and have seen and heard so many horror stories that I am fearful to try one.

  4. I have been sewing more the past few weeks than than the last few years. I have made 3 pants, 3 tops, and finished a jacket I started many years ago (and it is still looking on trend). This is my fix since I cannot go to the store shopping. You can see all my makes plus a quilt top at https;//
Oh and I wanted to say I just LOVE the Scoop brown dress from Walmart, especially with the denim jacket…………so cute!

  5. Oh Cyndi. This post was just what I needed today. It’s gloomy and rainy here in NW Oregon last few days and it good to see pretty summer stuff to look forward too. Two questions. Are the Kut from the Kloth jeans true to size. I wear size 4 in LOFT jeans? Also does the self tanner have a smell? That distinct sunless tanner smell? You look adorable in all the outfits. Do you keep them all? You must really know your size to order so many things and have them fit so well. I haven’t heard you talk about your daughter and family lately. Do you see them during this virus shut down? We didn’t see ours for two months but just saw my daughter and her husband and my granddaughter and as it was too hard not and we are leaving tomorrow to go see my other daughter and husband and their new baby boy born the 7 th, 4 hours away. I’m so excited and praying Gods protection over us all.

  6. Hey Cyndi! Thanks so much for including my poem on today’s post. I hope it encourages someone. And I love following along. Have a great week!

    1. Micah, I had no idea your Mom followed my blog. I recently purchased your book and I’m reading it. It’s so good! Thank you for reminding us to stay anchored in.

  7. I have enjoyed your blog for a couple of years now. You always have feature cute things and great ideas for putting outfits together. I was pleasantly surprised today to see my daughter Micah featured on Beauty for the Heart. It made my day!! God is good all the time!

  8. Love the jumpsuit.. almost looks like a dress.. who would think it was from Walmart.. I’d like to see the applicant for self tanner as well I have never bought a self tanner..

  9. Thank you for sharing items from Amazon. I like their prices but am concerned about the quality. I ordered two dresses and the sweatshirt based on your review.
