The Comfort of Christmas-Advent

This Sunday is the second of Advent, and today we are focusing on COMFORT.

In the world we live in, we need reminding that Jesus is our comfort.

Life can be hard, and circumstances can be difficult. But God told Joshua in Deuteronomy 31:8, The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

God tells us that we need not despair. God is with us and goes ahead of us. Not only is He with us, but He comforts us no matter what we face.

Nothing can take him by surprise or catch him off guard; what good news to know that God will never abandon us.

Are you afraid?

Read Isaiah 51:2, I, yes I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans, who wither like the grass and disappear?

Do you have troubles?

Read Psalm 119:50, Your promise revives me; it comforts me in all my troubles.

Do you need hope?

Read Romans 15:4, For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

Are you mourning a loss?

Read Matthew 5:4, Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Are you worried about death?

Read Psalm 24:4, Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;  For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me

Can you think of someone who needs comforting?

Let’s be the hands and feet of Christ and comfort them today!

  1. Beautiful message Cyndi. Deuteronomy 31:8 is one of my life verses. It has been with me during this cancer journey I’ve been on and during other journeys as well. What a gift of comfort God’s word is to us. Have a blessed day.

    1. I love the shadow box also, what beautiful memories
of the love of his great grandfather! I do love following you as well! Such a special post today!
      God bless you all!❤️

  2. Exciting for your son….his first house. I’m sure he loved having you both there to help. What a special keepsake he has. Thank you for the BFTH. It’s good to be reminded of His words in any situation. I love advent season. Great time to reflect.

  3. Such a heartwarming story about your son and his grandfather. I love the shadow box. What a beautiful way to honor his memory. Thanks for beauty for the heart and all the scripture passages.

  4. Can you tell me again the toilet tissue game you played at your Christmas party?? Sounded like such fun. Thank You

    1. Absolutely! We divided up into groups of 5 people (we had close to 40 people), and each group had a roll of toilet paper. Each person in the group was asked to take the amount of toilet paper they use when going to the bathroom (lots of fun watching this!). Then you tell them that they are to tell something about themselves with each square they tore off. We had a blast playing this game!
