Styling a Floral Blouse

Good morning!! I’ve been wanting to add some floral to my wardrobe but truthfully I was a little scared. When I think floral, I think old lady. But when I received this floral blouse in  my Stitch Fix box, I thought I’d give it a try.

The blouse has a slit in the front that’s a little revealing so I added a cami. I later realized I could safety pin it and it wouldn’t be so revealing.

I did some fall shopping at The Loft in Lexington Green. If any of you live close, you should definitely go in there. Cathy (a long time friend of mine) and Emily work there and are amazing at putting outfits together.

I put this together on Polyvore to show you how you can take a sleeveless floral top and wear it through the fall season by adding a blazer and some ballet flats.

Have you tried to style anything floral?

Beauty For the Heart~~I’m getting so excited about beginning our small group this Sunday. Here’s another quote from the book Not A Fan.

“So in case someone left it out or forgot to mention it when they explained what it meant to be a Christian, let me be clear: There is no forgiveness without repentance. There is no salvation without surrender. There is no life without death. There is no believing without committing.” -Kyle Idleman

Have a blessed day!

  1. Very cute outfit. Love the floral on you !! I ware a little floral, but it really has to be something that catches my eye in color and design.
I found a pair of zipped anklet, jean capri-pants while shopping in Lexington and love them!

  2. I love the floral top on you. I’m always reluctant to wear a pattern that’s big and bright. It’s just not me. But I’m slowly try to change that. Your blog is helping me with it. If it’s too much, I throw a cardingan over it to cover it a bit. I love the Loft and can always find something I like. Sometimes too much. Their store at the outlet mall always has great sales! I never buy anything full price.

  3. Hi Cyndi,
I’ve been following your blog for about a year now and so appreciate your positive, uplifting comments and your wonderful sense of modest style. I look forward to seeing what you are wearing and what you post every day. You always look so nice in your clothes. I was just wondering if you have any trouble with extra midsection weight yet. And if so, what you do to camouflage it. And, by the way, I do like the floral top on you.
Blessings to you and your family!

  4. Adorable floral top ! It will transition into Fall so well with a “grandpa” cardigan . Love outfit that are comfortable and able to work with many seasons . Also enjoyed the quote by Kyle .
Enjoy the rest of your Summer Cyndi !

  5. Hi Cyndi, I have always shied away from florals largely because most of them I’ve seen are always small and matronly looking. Interestingly, when I was pregnant with my son (31 years ago!), my girlfriend bought me a cotton, semi v-neck with pull up collar, pullover, medium blue with pink cabbage roses maternity shirt. I nearly wore it out and I was so bummed out when I couldn’t wear it anymore. Now then, I love the floral blouse your’re wearing and the way you’ve restyled it. It looks great with your jeans. I also love the black floral blouse in the Polyvore selections. Your blouse and that blouse I would wear in a second! I just haven’t noticed many GOOD COLOR, bolder, floral patterns in shirts and blouses over the years. Hopefully, they are on a resurgence!. Looking cute girl!

  6. Though I’m choosy about the colors and size of florals, I do love to wear them! I think they bring out the femininity of a woman, and if the print and style is youthful, they won’t look matronly. Although this is my personal opinion, I believe a smaller floral looks much more youthful and feminine than large, bold flowers. The polyvore outfit is a prime example of sporting a floral with a youthful flair. Likewise, a floral scarf can soften an otherwise plain or more masculine-type outfit.

I’m praying for little Bennett today. I pray she and her family have a blessed Tuesday!

  7. I like the floral blouse. I have one from Loft that I got last year and it’s just kind of fun! I wish I could wear my hair your length…looks so great on you…but when my hair gets below my chin I feel like I look older (I’m older than you.) So I cut it before it ever gets there! Your Beauty for the Heart is spot on today!

  8. I like the floral top and the way you showed how to transition it to fall. Sometimes when a top is a little too revealing in hot weather I wear a sports bra so it fills in the ‘gaps’ without adding another entire layer. Just my two cents.
You might have inspired me to get that book . . .

  9. I like the floral top on you! I’m older than you but I have branched out to florals mostly to try to camouflage my abundant mid-section – a problem you don’t have! I like the bright colors of the Stitch Fix top as well.

Taking your hair pictures to my hairdresser AGAIN Friday! Finally taking the plunge and going to try bangs for the 1st time in approx 5-6 years! If mine turns out half as nice as yours I’ll consider it a success!
