28 Days of Spring Fashion (Day 12)

It’s Day 12 of my 28 Days of Spring Fashion. Today I’m sharing some outfits from last year mainly because this is what I’m wearing today. It’s March Madness and we’re cheering on the Cats!

It’s raining off and on today so I’m wearing my rain boots and my Mom’s UK jacket.

28 Days of Spring Fashion (Day 12)
My brother bought the jacket for her right before she passed away. We took her to Kohl’s one night after we found out she had terminal cancer and she knew she was going to be going to the doctor a lot so she wanted to dress comfortable.

I remember that night so well and the sadness I felt was almost unbearable. I wear it now and think of her.

Mom didn’t follow KY basketball religiously until tournament time and then she was all in. We would get so tickled at her. I still miss her so much!

Okay, enough of that, on to last year’s spring fashion. I was trying to figure out some outfits to share, and I wanted to see what I styled last year. I had one of those moments that I look in my closet and thought, “what did I wear last year?”

I wasn’t finding any clothes! Ha! I did give quite a bit of stuff away so I’m going to have to add some pieces to my spring wardrobe. That works out pretty good since I share fashion on my blog.

Last year I wore this outfit. The top is Velvet Heart brand but I received it in a Stitch Fix box. I added a floral scarf from Target.

I also styled this top from Target. I liked the color and it’s perfect for the beginning of spring weather.

I’m going to continue to look in my closet and see what I have for spring and summer. I’m ready to start putting some of my winter sweaters and scarves away.

Have you started cleaning out your closet for spring and summer?

One last thing, Stitch Fix is now styling Petite sizes!!

And Maternity clothes! I love this idea!! Wouldn’t it be fun to give someone you know that’s expecting a Stitch Fix gift card.

They are still working on adding plus sizes but they want to make sure they do it right before they add that feature.

  1. Do you need to wear longer tops with skinny jeans? I am 49 by the way. I wore them in the winter with longer sweaters but just wonder now that spring has arrived (I am in Tennessee) if I need to wear longer tops – thanks and love your outfits and your site!! God bless

    1. I think your top should hit the smallest part of your hips whether its shorter or longer. Stay away from you widest part which will accentuate them.
      Hope that helps!!

  2. I’m sure your sweet Mother was smiling down on you yesterday! I lost my mother suddenly, 25 years ago. Thank goodness for memories that we can hold close.
I think you’re super cute in your March madness outfit! The scarf has that little pop of color needed for interest with all the blue, and I love the coral necklace with turquoise. Don’t you just love the nude colored flats from Target! I recently picked those up too.
My closet is a work in progress, haha!

    Joyfully, Penny

    1. If this helps…when I wear an infinity scarf I double the scarf and pull one section shorter than the other and get this same look.

  3. Your blog has inspired me! I went to target yesterday to freshen up my spring work clothes, but the didn’t have a lot of what I saw on the blog, in my size. But I did find a couple of cute skirts and the black espadrilles pumps you’ve worn. I also stopped by a local consignment shop for a couple of spring statement necklaces and a black pencil skirt. To make the day even better, I received in the mail some jewelry I’d ordered from Premier designs and my Ipsy bag!
Thanks again for the blog, I’ve enjoyed it immensely!

  4. I remember the mint striped top with the coral necklace from last year and I loved it then and I still do! It’s on my Spring/Summer Pinterest board too!

You always look so nice and you encourage me so much to keep trying. God bless you!!

  5. That UK blue looks great on you! Such precious memories.
I had to laugh, like your Mom, I am much more into NCAA action once we’re into March Madness. I’m rooting for MSU SPARTANS though!

  6. Cindi, it’s so precious to hear you speak of the deep love you have for your Mama! Each time you share a story of her, you are honoring the legacy she left here on earth and honoring the incredible work God did in and through her life! Though I’ve never met you face to face Cindi, I feel like I know you and am so blessed to be your sister-in-Christ!
    God Hugs to you!

  7. Really like today’s outfit – cute polka dot blouse! Not a UK fan, but am all in for the NCAA tournament – go Gonzaga Bulldogs!!! Love the memories you have with the Kentucky jacket, makes it so special for you!

  8. Go, Big Blue!! I’m like your mom, Cyndi, in that I don’t get too much Into the regular season but enjoy tournament time. Part of the reason is that my husband is from Indiana. He’s very competitive, and I just don’t like to hear it all through the season. So I keep a low profile. Ha! At tournament time , though, my true colors show!

  9. Stitch Fix now has petites! Yay! Now I just may have to try them. I didn’t before because I was worried nothing would fit as I am really short and small. I saw a story on them this morning on the weekend Today show.

  10. Cyndi, you will never stop missing your mom. I hope you think of the good times and they make you smile through your sadness.

  11. Hi Cyndi,
I know you know this but sometimes it helps to hear others say it to you. You will see her again. And, when you do, she’ll be younger, more beautiful, healthy, free from pain, and full of joy. I know she is proud of you and the way God is using you to help all of us.
    Love the rain boots!

  12. I have that same scarf, and I always get compliments when I wear it.
Love the memories. I have several things that belonged to those I love, and I cherish the reminiscing when I use or wear those things. 🙂

  13. I thought you were talking about wearing British clothes as in UK – United Kingdom, not University of Kentucky!

    1. me, too! LOL!! I am always mad around this March Madness time of the year! All my husband does is watch basketball and DVR it!! Oh, well, at least I know where he is! 🙂
Love your outfits today, Cyndi. God’s blessings!!

  14. I love the beauty for the heart. Made me sad to hear what you said about your mom. Makes that jacket so special. Love all your outfits even though some are not for me. Working on my closet now.
